Default hubs on trailer wheels

When Ames stores were liquidating their stuff last year, wifey bought one of those Bell trailers,
seats two littl'uns. I woulda preferred a Burley, but the Bell was cheap and available.

Now I am having some issues as I trail the kids around in this thing. there is so much play in one
of the hubs that it makes the trailer shimmy and wobble, with the slightest change in direction or
acceleration. At speed it is not comforting.

The rims are steel, the hubs use what appear to be cartridge bearings, on stub axles. There is a
retaining clip that holds the bearings in - it looks like there is just a bit too much play. So ...
has anyone fixed one of these up before? Are there replacement axles for trailers? I suppose I could
get a pair of front hubs and re-build the wheels, but I would need stub axles long enough to
protrude through the mount on the frame of the trailer.

I recommend you contact Bell by phone and discuss the problem with them.

Using thin steel washers to shim the axle might help reduce the play if there is no
adjustment possible.

yes, there is no adjustment possible. What you suggest with the shim is what I have done, but as you
can imagine, the shim doesn't correct the core issue which is a poor bearing. Interesting, there is
considerable difference in play between the two wheels. Maybe one of them has a manufacture defect.

I will contact Bell, thanks.
