Hey, I'm not sure if I had asked this question or not, so here it goes: I have an Avenir Cycle computer that came with my bike (bike is not new purchased at pawn shop) that is not working. I have changed the battery and nothing else happens. Does this computer need to be receiving a signal from the magnet to be showing anything on the screen? I would have thought that I would have something on the screen when I changed the battery. There is no reset button on this computer at all, and I do not have any idea what the model number is of this thing. The physical description of this computer is if you took the shape of an egg, and cut off the tip and flattened it, put a two inch LED window in the top third of it and two rounded triangles on the bottom (lt and rt). The computer is silver on the front and black on the back. The LED window is trimmed in black, and the two setting buttons are black. Above the buttons the word AVENIR is printed in black. Anyone help on this one? thanks, Dennis |

It might be simpler to buy a new computer, with the instructions on how to use it. New computers can be had for about $10.00. |

Anyone help on this one? Many of the Avenir computers are rebadged ACT computers, designed by Lake Sport. Some of those have a not-obvious switch. There is a ball-bearing on the back that needs to be depressed to switch it on. So clip it firmly into its handlebar mount to get the screen to wake up. Your battery os a CR-2032, right? And the numbers are facing up when you install the battery, right? If it is more than that you probably are just out of luck. Hope you didn't pay much, new standard- function bike computers are quite cheap. -- Andrew Muzi www.yellowjersey.org Open every day since 1 April, 1971 |
