Default What computer to get?

All I use most is average speed and I want one with cadence. A back light would be nice but I can
live without it. but is there one that would display cadence and average speed? I don't want
wireless anymore too many problems with my lights.

Hi, I am very pleased with my Sigma BC1600. Bought their cadence sensor separately, connects by
wire. /Robert

performance axiom 8.0c (aka VDO).

no back light but it does have cadence, is wired but i'm not sure if it'll do average speed and
cadence at the same time (is that what you mean?). anyway one of my bikes has the VDO branded
version and i like it. nice and intuitive.

Cateye Astrale is good quality and will show you both cadence and average speed at the same time
(and allow you to switch which one shows on the big display and which on the small). Else, Nashbar's
cadence computer is very inexpensive.

You can't go past Cateye Astrale CD-100. It has cadence and all the other dating collecting you'd
want, but no light.

The Echowell F2 is also very good - cadence and average cadence, no light.

Cheerz, Lynzz

PS I'm looking forward to cyclometers with voice recognition, digital audio/visual recording, back
light and features only a geek in an R&D could dream up - all for $10 at Nashbar.

I'm a fan of the Avocet 45. I'm not sure it's made any more though -- the online sites don't list it
currently. Jobst might know as he is associated with Avocet (and IIRC the designer of the Avocet
45). It has the best UI of the various cyclometers I've tried (including Vetta, Sigma, Specialized,
and Cateye).

great and it is cost effective too. wonder why back lighting is hard to find?

As you get older you're realize you left something out- voice recognition is fine, but what you
might really need is a talking computer for eyes that have a hard time seeing the numbers.

Plus, it'll keep you company on those long solo rides.

I guess (G) all I have to do is get my main halogen headlight or my xenon flasher only somewhat
close the wireless computer to have it not work well.

Most people don't ride at night.

So, should we assume that you have something against getting wired? (GD&R)
