I am building a time trial bike out of all parts. I am using 52-34 chainrings on an old sugino 110 crankset. I am putting ratcheted friction suntour shifter on the aerobar ends. I cut some old bars and turn them into bullhorns, and am I using aero brake levers below the bars with the levers pointing forward. I am using an old KHS frame with 853 tubing and I will get a forward seatpost for about $20 (chucksbikes) I am using an old RSX rear deraullier. What do you all think? Any suggestions? BTW, i am lookign for a 32 hole rim with approx. a 19 mm profile. Does anyone have one hanging around that you want to get rid off? I want to pay about 10 bucks, otherwise I'll get an alex for $26 at nashbar. |

-) Hey, after riding for over 20 years all kinds of bikes, I arrived to the conclusion, that for my level, It doesn't matter if I am riding an 80s colnago super, or a 2004 trek 5200. as long as the bike fits me, I'll be fine. Regarding the TT project, I want a bike that will put me slightly more forward on aerobars and that I'll be able to shift from them. the suntour retrofriction are, w/o a doubt, the best in the world. However, I'll buy some decals that'll spell POS and will but them on my head tube. thanks for the idea. When I kick Jay's ass in the next TT, he'll know that I did it on my POS. andres muro wrote: > I cut some old bars and turn them into bullhorns, and am I using aero brake levers below the bars > with the levers pointing forward. Why did you point the levers forward? I've cut one set of bars and flipped them as you describe, but I put the levers pointing back at the rider. That seems to work. I wanted the levers pointing back because they are STI, and I don't think things would work "normally" if the levers were pointing forward. Dave dvt at psu dot edu |

I only know two - Point Of Sale or Piece Of excrement. I think Jay from Montreal, Canada meant that it would be good to use for a tamale or taco bike, hence Point Of Sale. Those homemade bullhorns should make for easy maneuvering with a few hundred tacos aboard. Just hang around construction sites and you will do well. > Andres > > > > > > -- > > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > FIGHT BACK AGAINST SPAM! It's round and straight, but there's a rough spot on one brake track. It's sitting in my living room right now and my wife says it *just* doesn't go with our decor. Jeff |

As well as the POS decals for the bike you could get a POS jersey and shorts - then you could claim to be a real POSer ! andresmuro@aol.com (andres muro) wrote in message news:<b2d4101f.0402092023.29836b5d@posting.google.com>... > :-) > > > However, I'll buy some decals that'll spell POS and will but them on my head tube. thanks for the > idea.
