rec.runners, The following table of calories burned per hour per kg was posted about a year ago. Note that for a 75 kg person this works out to about 130 Calories/mile. For a 60 kg person, it's about 100 Calories/mile. Credit to the original poster. Subject: Re: calories burned when running From: "Rob Kings" rob@nospam.vitalpulse.com Date: Wed, Apr 10, 2002 1:07 AM Message-id: <a90rs2$c7l$1@helle.btinternet.com> in kcal/hr/kg 12 min/mile 8.7 11 min/mile 9.4 10 min/mile 10.2 9 min/mile 11.2 8 min/mile 12.5 7 min/mile 14.1 6 min/mile 16.3 So my long training run is 12 miles in 2 hours (i.e. 10 mins/mile). I am 75Kg so I burn 2 * 75 * 10.2 = 1530kcal (That'll do very nicely thanks) Hope this helps Rob Robert Walter, CA "I never gave anyone hell.
