Default help on knee muscles exercise!

Hi!

Once again i ask for your help, I must say this time that i like this newsgroup alot, and though i
dont frequently post here, i am a usual reader. Some people here offer very good advice, and this is
a very good newsgroup with respect to usenet in general. Newsgroups are ussually full of people that
dont want to share information, happilly this is not the case here.

Back to my knees 8=). I have a a problem in booth my knee that prevents me from swimming
breaststroke in the usual way i see others swimming. For me it is very difficult to make the
breaststroke kick in the "normal" way. Since when i completly extend my legs i feel both (sometimes
right, sometimes left) knees tearing apart, just like those mediaval age torture machines, that
pulled one's arms and legs until you break apart. (Well i am exagerating here). The fact is if i
force my legs to recover and push with a small amout of tension in my feet, this "felling" happens.
And i already know that if i force myself to kick in the "normal" way i will be in pain after 2 or
3 sessions.

I would like some help, about exercises on deck or in water to streghten the knee's muscles.

Thanks in advance.
M. Silva

I had a similair problem when running. I saw a physical therapist and she told me the muscle on the
inside of my right knee was weak, and gave me exercises to do to fix it. Two months later, I am
running pain free!

I also have a similar problem on inside of left knee, started at badminton but also affected my
breaststroke kick. Plenty of quad stretching, balancing on the leg with the weaker knee progressing
to moving knee over toes in back and forward movement, sit on floor turn foot to floor (evert
position?) and raise leg about 6 inches. Hop this helps, Paul "Carl Saiyed"
