More active how???? I really don't know how else to read that. You are the only person that has replied to me on here in the past two days. There is hardly anyone here. I did find another much more active place to get information. I don't think there are many people here that are willing to help. Thanks for your replies. I went to the bookstore last night and am starting to read a few books on swimming. Enjoy, Curt "Martin W. They weren't controversial questions, so there was no need for a lot of other people to say the same things. This group is a bit more astute than some others. martin -- Martin Smith email: mws@computas.com Vollsveien 9 tel. : +47 6783 1188 P.O. Box 482 mob. : +47 932 48 303 1327 Lysaker, Norway |

Do you regular go places like resturants and ask "Do you know where I can get food someplace else?" do you get a great response? Do you regular go places like The classic form of this is: "I asked this question 30 minutes ago and I didn't get it answered for me. This group sux!" This is a whine to get a question solved, though it rarely works even once. 2 days is longer, but not by much. Curt, questions did answered when one reads them, is interested, and has the time to type. Sometimes STFW is the correct answer. But sometimes you just catch the readers at the wrong time. Now calm down. I just asked some questions the other day. Here is what I asked.... 1. Is there an FAQ? 2. I can swim freestyle, but am not sure how good I am as far as form goes. Should I take a lesson or two? 3. Is there some good books or magazines that would be good to read to help? 4. I want to develop my upper body (swimmers build) and increase time in the pool. Should I be looking at other strokes other than freestyle? 5. If I want to get up to swimming 2 miles for a mini tri what should I be working towards as far as how long should I be swimming? 6. I hate counting laps, so I just swim for a time at a fair pace. Should I be concerned on how far I swim and if so, is there a lap counter that I can wear on my wrist or something? Martin did answer a few questions, but I like to hear a few more opinions. I don't mean to upset the group here, I just am starting to swim and wanted to get a few tips. I didn't say the group sux. It just isn't that active. I run and swim and am going to add biking (maybe), so I decided to read up on some things on the tri newsgroup. They seem to be a bit more active over there. I haven't posted yet, but there is a FAQ and I haven't read it all yet. I did that Martin for taking the time to respond to me. I am going to read here for a while and who knows maybe the rocky start won't mean that much later on. Sometimes people get a bit tired of answering the same newbie questions over and over. I've found that it's usually a good idea to simply work your way backwards through the threads, reading the ones that are of the most interest. You'll learn a lot in a short time. If you access the newsgroup through google you can use their search function (which works pretty well) to zero in on specific topics. BTW, this is all true for virtually any newsgroup that you read for information. Good luck in all your efforts. |
