First Short Course Yards meet of the season...

50 Free 35.07, - 2 second drop 50 Free in a relay 1 - 35.30 50 Free in a relay 2 - 35.20

100 free 1:21 - close to 2 second drop

200 free 2:52 - I think this was closer to 6 or 8 second drop.

All as compared to my Long Course Meters times (converted to Yards) at the regional meet at the
beginning of December.

Wow! That is fabulous! How often and how much are you swimming per week? Do you like to swim with
your head up or down? How about kicking?

Dang, that's almost a second and a half better than my daughter in the 50, 7 seconds in the 100, and
a whopping 20 seconds in the 200...of course, she's seven...

then again, my daughter can beat me in fly and backstroke...

I swim with a Masters team. Our coach has all kinds of workouts for us, Usually the focus rotates,
every day it's something different. Typically, Monday is the distance day, Tuesday is the IM day,
Wednesday, I think sprints, Thursday another distance focus day, Friday kicking sets, Saturday
sprints, Sunday specialty day... I swim every day, at least one workout, on average 3000 M, and then
2-3 times a week I do an evening workout too. But not every week. Usually one week on, one week off
with the 2nd workouts. About twice a week I do and easy day, for recovery. I don't take many days
off completely, cause I don't like getting stiff. I just tell my coach what day I'm taking recovery,
and he pares down the workout for me, to about half of what the full workout is, and I do long easy
sets, stretching and stroke drills. Yea, we;re lucky enough that there's often extra lanes in the
pool where I can do this, and be out of everyone's way. So I guess I average about 25,000 m a week

Our daily workouts have some of everything in them, warm-up, kicking, pulling, board, no board,
paddles, no paddles, fins, no fins, then the main set with the weekly focus...

Yeah, I still can't believe the times I'm making. Just this past July I started swimming, and my
first meet, In August, LCM, I did 1:58 in a 100 free, and I think 56 something in 50 free.

And the pounds keep dropping too. I started wearing size 12. Now I'm fitting into most of my size
8's. 10's when I want comfy clothes.

Coach thinks I'll end up getting to be really fast. It was nice to hear it. I'm kind of taking the
"I'll just keep up with the practices, and I'll see what happens" attitude. The best part is, I'm
having a blast with the whole thing. There are some awesome people on my team. Great swimmers and
great people.

hehe... I'm 34. Never swam competitively as kid. Just started in a Masters program this July.
Totally out of shape and about 40 lb overweight when I started.
