Default Aside to the war of the diets

A few weeks ago, I said I was about to use the diet to lose another 5-7 kilos, but I don't seem to
be willing to do it right now, and I believe it has something to do with the winter season. It is a
bit hard to clarify that, but it is as if my body simply "knows" it shouldn't be losing weight
during these cold, dark months.

Anyway, on the off chance that anyone was waiting for a report on how I was doing, I have decided to
suspend the effort until I start riding outdoors again, which will probably be shortly after the
first day of Spring, perhaps a bit earlier.

I would be interested to hear whether any of you other low-carb dieters out there have experienced a
similar change during the winter where you are. This might be a far north effect. Psychology
certainly does change during the winter up here, but I don't recall having a similar effect in
either LA or Adelaide.

I am on low carb and going to try and lose 3-5 more pounds. I have some motivation in going to enter
my first triathlon this year. I find it easier to lose weight in the winter. Everyone is on a diet
in January and it helps knowing I have company. Of course by now most people in the US are off the
diets and gaining all the weight back and then some. Just think how good you will look without that
huge flabby gut if you got it off. Who knows, you may even want to wear a f'n Speedo and maybe the
idiots that are fixated on them will be following you around.

At this point, I wear a speedo, I'm not overweight, and I'm not gaining weight. The reason I want to
lose about 5-7 more kilos is to get my body fat % down. It is in the middle of the normal range for
a man my age, but I think the normal range is skewed. I want to see what effect losing a few more
kilos will have on body fat.

I seem to be able to lose weight more easily in the spring, summer, and fall. I think it has to do
with a hibernation effect at this latitude. We sleep more in the winter, and we are less active. I
still do a good workout every day, but outside the workout, I am much less active than during the
rest of the year. I use the bus and the train more, rather than ride my bike to work, and I walk
less, because it is so cold.

I walked the 6k to work this morning. It was -5C. I was numb, when I got there.

I live in Pennsylvania, USA, and coincidentally, I hit my goal weight and thus am not trying to lose
and weight. I may try to lose another 2% BF come springtime when I can train alittle harder, and
more than just swim, but right now I'm pretty steady at 235 pounds (14% body fat).

a friend of mine who is also LC, but does not exercise, continues to drop weight, down 60 lbs so
far, maybe another 20 to 30 to go for him.

the closer you are to your "normal" weight, the harder it is to lose the weight.
