How to Order the M5 Carbon Fiber Seat?

Hmmm. Check this out! I am ordering these plans. I haven't seen a real life completed model of this bent, but it sure looks like it could be mad a whole lot lighter and really cool looking without much effort. The designer just did it this way to make it easy for people who need something not too complicated and which can be made with common materials. But notice the seat is only 1.875 lbs, about the same weight as that carbon fiber M5. I bet the materials are less than 10 bucks for this too. So I think I'll pass on the M5 and give this a shot. If it doesn't work, I won't feel as bad about springing the $325. But I think it will. And I bet I could make it lighter than the M5 by using paulownia wood. As I said, the designer didn't make any special effort to use ultralight materials.

If anyone has any ideas to help me with this, please let me know. I have been doing a lot of research on bents, but I'm not really a craftsman--just a very determined bent hopeful who wants that 18 lb bent at a steal. If you buy a titanium assembled bent at retail, it will cost about $5000. I think if I really splurged on ultralight wheels and paulownia wood and other parts for my homebuilt, it would still be way less than $1,000 for an 18 lb bike even counting the tools I have to buy.
