Saturday I went to the bike shop to ride and try out some bents. I road a Bacchetta Strada which I liked , I road a Rocket ok, an old Rans Stradus and a couple of other swb bikes. I spen most of the time riding the Strada. I got pretty comfortable riding in the parking lot so we started out on the streets. I guess I got pretty nervous and had some troubles weaving back and forth in the bike lane. We didn't really ride any hills to speak of but I imagine that would have been a real experience. How long does it take to get completely comfortable and be able to climb without weaving or does this never go away? I really wanted to ride a Rans V2, but the dealer told me they didn't have any and wern't going to be able to get any anytime soon. Any comments would be appreciated. |

It took me two weeks to get good at balancing my Taiko at low speeds. I still find that it is more awkward at REALLY low speeds (ie. < 3mph) than the upright. Take heart, it does get better. As for climbing, remember to spin, not pump. Quote:

I bought a Strada a little over a week ago and I LOVE it! I did wobble a bit at first but when I finally relaxed all the wobble went away. I found that I was tensing my shoulders and white knuckling the grips. Once I quit that it solved the wobble. Even at 4 mph up a really steep hill I don't wobble or fall over! Great bike! |

I didi it! I purchased a used Bacchetta Giro. I have had it for about 1 week now and am really enjoying the riding. I am getting better at the handling after about 30 miles on the bike it started getting better. I like everything about it except it seems slower especially on the hills. It could be that the bike is 10 lbs more than my road bike and the tires are 1.3 size also. Guess I have to give up the speed for the comfort. Hill are and were a real challenge at first. I am still not a hill expert but am trying ti get the arms and shoulders to relax and that really helps. A real different ride than a road bike. Thanks for all the input www.oregoncoastcyclingfestival.com |

This thread seems pretty old. Is Cherimo still monitoring? If so, I would be interested in knowing the current Satisfation Level with the Strada? Am seriously Considering purchasing one. Rode an 02 model in 02 for a couple afternoons and really liked the bike. Anyone else with some long term experience with a strada, your two cents worth, or a dime if you can spare it, would be welcomed too. Last edited by Hull 697; 01-10.-2006 at 05:39 AM. I've had my Strada for a couple of years now and I love it! It's zippy and quick and a total blast. It's the perfect 'bent for me. I'm more interested in speed and the Strada give that to me. It's a great bike. Quote:

Two years and, "It's a total blast." Doesn't get much better than that! Thanks so much for your reply. The delta between the Strada and a more "entry level" bike becomes much easier to stomach when one contemplates being this enthusiastic after two years.
