Hi I Ride a Recumbent made by earth engines called Vapor. The Vapor is the only Recumbent I own. It handles quite well with or wiithout a load. It has a 39 " wheel base. I am currently having it painted. I am also having a Schlumpf Mountain Drive installed. I intend to take a trip to the west coast next year and would like some sugestions on the route. Starting from Tampa to LA. |

Probably the best source of information on cross-country bike travel is the Adventure Cycling Association (http://www.adventurecycling.org/). They have tours, instructions, gear, but best of all, have mapped out and developed a whole series of cross-country bike route. You can purchase map sets that are designed for bike travel, showing not just the basic recommended routes but containing a ton of useful information ranging from parallel maps showing the elevation of the trail ("it just looked like a straight shot on my road map... who knew it was basically up a mountain?") and the locations of lodgings, camp sites, stores and other supplies, and even the Dairy Queens en route. We bought a set of maps for a cross-country trip and are amazed at the quality. Good luck! |
