Not me, but this is the bike. I'm the fourth owner.
Nice! I just bought a barely used Speedster AX for $575. Considering the components and such its a bargain. Only problem I've had is the right side crank was stripped where someone over-tightened the pedal. Putting the new crank in tonight when I get home...

My only other complaint is the steering stem makes some squeeking/creaking noise. Anyone have any suggestions for getting rid of it let me know please!

I noticed some squeaking from the headset. At first I thought it was the bottom bracket, as it stopped when I stopped pedaling, but the I realized it was from a slight steering adjustment in perfect time with each stroke. I'll probably rebuild the headset this weekend.

I think it was a good deal, but now I foind myself drooling over $1500+ models. Normally I drool over underwear models (think VS, not Fruit of the Loom), so this is different for me.

By the time this reply shows up you'll be checking out, and seriously considering, $7000 carbon fiber rides. The first time I looked seriously at a bent it was a $1700 used Arrow. I finally ended up with a Velokraft VKII Pro. I still won't admit to friends and family how much I paid for it. I know they just won't understand.

For me though, I couldn't be happier. I've got about 250 miles on it now and I think I'm just barely starting to get good on it. I was out for my ride yesterday and found myself going 25 MPH, uphill. Yes uphill. Of course this "hill" was only a 2 or 3 percent grade and 400 yards long, but I was still impressed with myself. I've come a long way since the first day I tried to ride it. Yes tried. I couldn't stay vertical for more than thirty seconds.

Have fun singlespeedemon. Isn't it fun hearing kids go crazy when you ride by with comments like, "That's the coolest bike I've ever seen" I didn't expect that part.

LOL! It doesn't mean you'll be buying it any time soon. But you will probably be thinking how to justify the next one before too long; and the second one will be more expensive than the first one.

I know, I know, I know. If you told me six months ago that I would actually spend this much money for a BICYCLE, I would have told you that Hell would freeze over first. No kidding. I am just a lower middle class kind of guy so this was a very extravagant purchase.

I look at this way. If getting the EXACT bent that fits my body and personality is what makes the difference between me getting out on the road all the time versus hanging it up in the garage, then it was worth every penny. My mountain bike hung from the rafters for three or four years before I finally traded it for a cord of firewood. That's right, firewood.

Recumbent bikes are very funny things. They're very hard to find, relatively speaking, very expensive, and in the case of my VKII, pretty damned hard to ride. (For a while anyways.) I don't think I've seen many complaints though from people that wish they hadn't bought one. I realize that it might be too hard to admit it if you don't like the bike you spent thousand on but I'm sure you'd still see complaints on forums like this.

If you're in your forties and you've never been in shape and never been really into any kind of fitness program then I suppose you'd probably be wasting your money. At least statistically speaking that is. But if your goal is to find a way that you can exercise that won't tear up your joints, back, neck, prostrate area, etc., etc., then a bent is for you. (Not to mention being pretty fun to have SO MANY people say very cool things while you ride by. Especially the kids. You'd think they were seeing their favorite hero by their reactions.) I've been on rides so far that go over two hours and other than slightly sore muscles I've been no worse for wear. I don't see any reason you couldn't literally ride all day at a mellow pace and still be just fine to ride the next day. How many forms of exercise can make a claim like that? By the way, My last 14 mile ride up and down the hills in my area burned over 1200 calories. Yes, one thosand, two-hundred. That's a lot of food that won't be making it to my waste.

P.S. I know marriage is a two way street, but if my wife gave me static for wanting to spend money on a Bicycle instead of a vacation in Hawaii, then I might have to examine where my wife's motivations lie. Of course I am divorced.......HMMMMM????

You are not too far from Mount Airy Cycles on rt I-70 just east of Frederick. They will let you get a demo ride. Call them up and see what they have in stock!

I've had a demo ride there of a Sun/EZ Sport.

What did you think of the EZ Sport as I have not found one around here to try out. I am thinking about a EZ Sport AX.
Thanks Wink

Mine is a EZ Sport LE from a few years back. It is aluminum, made in Taiwan. Mine is 27 speed. It weighs about 35 pounds. I lke it a lot, but I don't know what equipment you will get on one now. I got it used here in Maryland for $650.00. I'm looking to get a Linear, but I don't have the loot right now. If I get the funds to buy one, I'll be selling this EZ Sport. If anyone is interested, I'll post a picture of it.

If you are handy and have access to a welder there are a bunch of sites that tell you how to build your own. Just need a couple of cheap bikes that you can cut up.

I found a EZ sport AX on Ebay that had mirror, bag & rack. Also put on fenders lights & extra wine cooler wops I mean water bottle holder.for a total of around 900 US.It is like new and still had the mold tips on the tires. So far about 200 miles and happy as can be with it.For where I ride I can not see
me sitting any lower or less stable as there is a lot of traffic in a lot of places I ride. Also added a safety flag.

I am most likely not your typical aquaintance. I have 2 fulltimes jobs, my wife has one. We ar teacher here in Budapest hungary. We have 3 kids. We have to watch what we buy for food these days because of the economics of being a teacher in this country.

Over the course of a year we usually can scrimp and save enough cash to take a family vacation, camping, each summer, no amusements parks, not fancy hotels, etc.

We are happy with our lives but it makes certain things unreachable.

I would love a bent bike. The prices here for new ones are our more than our combined monthly GROSS salary, or about 1.75 of a month's Net wages.

there are few to no used ones. Getting one on ebay for instance and having it sent here would cost a ton in shipping.

I am not writin gthis to say it is not possible, just to point out how fricking hard it would be for me to get one...

I will look into having somebody weld me a frame and start buying bits and pieces..... I really want one of thse bikes.
