This is for the guys. Well gals can respond too as I am sure my wife would love a tip or two. OK, here it is: What do you do for hair management on the perineum? I get some serious burning going on there as the miles rack up and no it is no Ghonorea. I am going to test Body Glide and Shamy Butter but you know the trim level has to effect it. So let's hear some feedback. Let the forest grow? Trim it? To what level? How about you shavers out there? I can't believe the perpetual stubble could be any good. Are you using riding shorts? with nothing between you and them? Are you using them more than 2 days without washing them? Do you shower b4 your ride or is your butt squeeky clean b4 rides? Does your weight rest on your crotch and not your hip-pelvis/"sit bones"? have you had your shop check your position on the bike or saddle fit? If you answered yes to any above take action! Trimming not rocommended in the crotch area- can cause ingrown hair. Assos makes a good cream for the crotch as well. Menthol, Eucalyptus is the active ingredient in most, make sure there is some type of anti-bacterial agent Quote:

Such shockingly simple advice that's too little followed. Too many riders buy saddles because they're light, they look hot on a glossy magazine page, or because Alfredo Pro Tour rider uses one. I always thought buying a saddle was about getting something that worked for you.

Thanks for the help all. I do have a plenty wide seat. It is the original on my 8 yr old Bianchi and has a beautifully wide cut out. I have clip on aeros since I use this bike for tt'ing as well so I have monkeyed around with fit pushing the seat forward. I spend at least half the time on my long rides in aero so that is why my gouch hurts. Shower within 12 hours and always clean shorts. I lowered the seat the other day and it is marginally better. I am going for my first century at the Horrible Hundo on Sunday. It will be tough as I am only to 60 miles/3:13 in a sitting. Zach |

on a related topic i tend to get numbness in the aforementioned area when in the saddle have to relive this by standing for awhile wonder if i tipped the saddle down at the front slightly would it help or just throw my seatin position way off its causing a block of blood flow is this comon out there ... |

Sometimes a too wide saddle can cause problems, the wrong shape can be bad too, Looking from the "back" I like a saddle that has a fair amount of "curve" ie: Brooks pro after it "breaks in", san marco concor/royal/regal or a bontrager many ohters like "flat" ones. Don't use the aero postion so much. Saddle height should be, from BB ctr to saddle top, .866-.877 of your leg length measuered from crotch to floor barefoot, stick a book in there and make a mark on the wall. this assume std pedal and shoe sole width of 8mm ( if you're using "old looks" adj 1 cm (short memory serves) if you have 12mm soles raise 4mm Quote:
