Default Information on Medicare-Approved Drug Discount Cards

Hello,

I thought this group would be interested in some information
about Medicare and the new prescription drug benefits that
are available. If you or someone you know is on Medicare,
this information may be of use to you.

Medicare recipients can now sign up for a Medicare-approved
drug discount card, which may save them 10-25 percent on
their prescription drug expenses. In addition, low-income
seniors are eligible for a credit of up to $600 on their
prescription drug purchases.

Please visit http://www.medicare.gov/cardinfo/16.htm to find
out which discount card best meets your needs, based on the
type of prescriptions you need. You can also find out if you
qualify for the $600 credit. Remember,
http://www.medicare.gov is your best source for information
on the new Medicare prescription drug benefits.

I tried the Medicare site. I figured out the process and the
results. It wasn't a snap, but didn't require more than a
moment's thought (sometimes not that) at each step.

The best card would cost me about $20 and save me maybe $50
a year (deduct $20 for the card and it comes to $30 a year
savings. Whoopee!) The worst card would cost me $30 and cost
me an extra $150 a year (plus cost of card $180 per year.
Yah, shure, gotta love it.)

I figure it's just the drug companies trying to be clever
and look as if they're being good to the senior citizens.

I've only got one med prescribed that's not already a
generic. And it's (don't hold your breath waiting for the
surprize answer) NOT COVERED. There we go. Do I hear a sound
like paper being pulled apart? Yep. Riiiiiiiip.
