Default how to lower cholesterol prior to being tested?

I need to take a cholesterol test for a life insurance medical.

Aside from not eating rich foods or drinking alcohol, in the days before the test what are some
other steps (if any) one could take assure the lowest possible reading of "bad" cholesterol?

Try eating 60% of your normal maintenance level calories, eat no meat, no sugar, no bread, no
potatoes, and walk 5 hours a day. Lose some weight and reduce your cholesterol numbers. Result is
almost guaranteed if you have a week or so.

Once upon a time, our fellow Alfonso rambled on about "how to lower cholesterol prior to being
tested?." Our champion De-Medicalizing in sci.med.nutrition retorts, thusly ...

Red rice yeast extract and niacin during the week before the test. Take 500 mg of Vitamin C on the
morning of the test.

Drastically cut back on all fat consumption several days before the test.

Do you have knowledge that there is significance to the insurance company where the LDL is in the
normal range?

The 2PD approach is easier.

I haven't heard this before - does C have a direct positive effect on cholesterol numbers?

You could always donate blood just prior to the test ..

Check out this study:

http://www.docguide.com/news/content...ument&c=Chole-
sterol%2FLipid%20Disorders&count=10

quote:

"eating a diet with large amounts of high glycaemic index carbohydrates is associated with a lower
HDL concentration"

HDL is the "good" cholesterol.

Whatever gets him to eat less to start losing fat will improve his cholesterol. I figure it is not
difficult to just eat 60% of what he was eating before. Instead of 2 slices of pizza eat 1.3 slices
etc. Not eating meat and sweets and other things I mentioned will also help. Lots of walking will
have same effect.

Or you could go a simpler and more effective route.

Sure it's simple. Look at all those happy, healthy POW's who've simply thrived on this much food.
See the robust physiques. Notice the sprightly look in their eyes. See the cheer and radiant color
in their cheeks. Ahhhh, Dachau in the morning... And we can't forget the Devil's Island Buffet;
wonderful selection of side dishes, especially the desserts. Lizards and slugs...

Puhleeze...
