Default Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5) and Hairloss

Hello guys!

A couple of months ago I posted a thread on this group asking if any of you experienced hair loss
while supplementing with Vitamin B5. Many people suggested that I had a biotin deficiency, and that
I should drop Vitamin B5 and add Biotin + Opti-Zinc and B-50 Complex.

Unfortunately, this hasn't helped, and the amount of hair that I lose has multiplied to say
the least.

I also posted a message on www.absoluteacneinfo.com forums, and along with a couple of sufferers we
engaged in trying to find a cure for our hair loss. However we had little success thus far. BTW, if

Through all of our research the following things had been pointed out as the cause to the hair loss:

- Vitamin B5 interferes with our blood pressure and either drops it, or increases it.

- A lot of sources indicate that Vitamin B5 interferes with our Cortisol levels.

- Vitamin B5 causes Biotin deficiency although my regimen of 5mg of Biotin a day didn't really work

- Calcium depletes Zinc count and thus causes hair loss. Taking Opti-Zinc didn't help that much

- Vitamin B5 interferes with out adrenal glands, and thus causing hair loss

- Vitamin B5 interferes with our Nitric Oxide which causes our hair loss since not enough blood gets
to our scalp.

- Vitamin B5 causes fat to metabolizing too fast, and thus one doesn't have enough healthy fats to
maintain hair growth.

- A thyroid problem called hypothyroidism since thyroids and adrenal glands work closely together.
Some symptomes include:

dry hair hair loss weakness fatigue cold intolerance constipation weight gain (unintentional)
depression joint or muscle pain thin, brittle fingernails thin and brittle hair pale color slow
speech dry flaky skin thickening of the skin puffy face, hands and feet decreased taste and smell
thinning of eyebrows hoarseness abnormal menstrual periods overall swelling muscle spasms (cramps)
muscle pain muscle atrophy uncoordinated movement absent menstruation joint stiffness facial
swelling drowsiness appetite loss ankle, feet, and leg swelling short stature separated sutures
delayed formation or absence of teeth

In hypothyroidism, the thyroid is not producing enough thyroid hormone. These hormones are T3
(triiodothyronine) and T4 (thyroxine). Extra T3 improves hair on some people.

Did anyone manage to find a proper solution to this? Any ideas how Vitamin B5 can cause hair loss?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Your posting is full of holes. Your age and gender? Health problems? Family hair loss pattern?

Your dosage of of B-5? The form of B-5?

Some people lose their hair. Genetics. Drugs.

Dropping it, is a good thing. Likely improves coQ-10 status which could do both. To interfere is a
good thing at times.

That could be a good thing. Lowers it I hope.

Hypothyroidism is a condition an endocrinologist can help thru tests and with a prescription.

Finastride if you must.....with a risk of impotence in a few percent of cases... or so some claim.

Thank you for your response.

I am a male and 18 years of age (as of December). I dropped Vitamin B5 over a year ago. So it's not
like I am taking it and experiencing the side effects, I stopped when they initially began and they
slowly progressed.

Hair loss started when I was 16 years old, slowly progressed. My family doesn't have any MPB
pattern, my parents and their parents have a full head of hair.

Although I don't have a lot of references in my post, this is the stuff that I picked up from
reading various message boards, forums, newsgroups and etc.

Sorry for being so unclear.
