I was curious as to how large they can get? Can they get large enough to block the rectum? How effective is botox in shrinking an internal hemroid? |

You may be thinking of sclerotherapy with other sclerosing agents. Botox in the rectum anywhere could lead to some unpleasant surprises. Hemorrhoids won't block the rectum, however a prolapsed internal hemorrhoid that won't reduce can strangulate and become gangrenous. That can be a problem and usually requires urgent surgery. Alternate treatments for internal hemorrhoids include rubber band ligation (an office procedure, usually), formal hemorrhoidectomy (ouch!), or PPH. For info on PPH, look at http://www.pphinfo.com/ .
