Rider of the name said Mr.Hisateru Sakurai(57 Y.O.!!) to this Tachikawa Keirin race participates.
He is very strong and famous rider that became Japan Keirin champion before.


Frame that he has is VIENUS frame used when winning the championship in 1975.




(The VIENUS frame atelier has already closed.)

He finish the professional Keirin rider life of 37 years tomorrow.
He retires tomorrow his last race.

Many our friends go to celebrate the last race of him.
Cheers his long rider life!!

MY KEIRIN RACE DIARY

I had gone to Keirin race until yesterday. (race schedule:TORIDE KEIRIN RACE 08-10.April.2009)

COW PARADE TOKYO in Toride Keirin track

News for NYC area fixed bike fan

Kalavinka track bike(prototype model) is exhibited to Kansei- Japan Design Exhibition held with NYC.
It was exhibited to Kansei- Japan Design Exhibition of Paris last year.

Kansei- Japan Design Exhibition in New York, May 2009

The Kansei is a meaning of Sensibility in Japanese.



"JAPAN by DESIGN" is best described as a "fair-within-a-fair" at ICFF, the International Contemporary Furniture Fair at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City from May 16 through May 19, 2009, consisting of two components: the kansei-Japan Design Exhibition and the Japan Pavilion, a commercial division showcasing select Japanese companies.

Encompassing Hall 1D of the Javits Convention Center, the kansei-Japan Design Exhibition will showcase 121 Japanese products and is intended to increase awareness of 'kansei' or a design's appeal to human sensibilities and its ability to evoke emotional sensations.

GIRO
There is a studio in Fukuoka pref.
builder:Shojiro Iwai(Birth July 2, 1958)
He took an active part as road rider in the Nihon University bicycle.
He went to train to Italy of the mechanic in him after it had trained with NAGASAWA for four years after it had graduated from the university. He supported a Japanese team of the game against the world while it worked with GIANNI MOTTA for two and a half years. He served as the coach and the mechanic in the Seoul Olympics.
The origin of the brand is from jiro>Giro of name Mr.Shojiro Iwai of frame builder.
Frame builder(Mr.Shojiro Iwai) of the brand trained production with NAGASAWA frame.



IRIBE
There is a studio in Nara pref.
builder:Masanori Iribe(Birth February 8, 1950)
He started the cycling at the junior high school, and started racing from the high school. He joins Sugino after it graduates from the high school, opens cycle shop at the age of 22, and is a frame builder now.



KALAVINKA
There is a studio in Tokyo.
builder:Akio Tanabe
He was famous rider. He won the championship several times by Japanese Championships and participated in World Championship.
The origin of the name of KALAVINKA is a god of the song in the name of the god of the Buddhism.
Head badge of KALAVINKA is very Oriental in the god's design. Frame of KALAVINKA is assembled with original lug, dropouts, and BB shell of the design of Mr.Tanabe. They use other NJS frame builder. They are exported to foreign countries.
Musician's Mr.Eric Clapton came to the atelier for the visit several years ago. He owns three Kalavinka frame.



I (Tomity) have been using only Kalavinka frame with Keirin race for 33 years. I do not have the use of other frame.

Birth December 25, 1953.
He is the second man who trained frame build in Italy following NAGASAWA. Moreover, he trained and returned home with GIANNI MOTTA for one year after it had trained for six years with famous ROSSIN in Italy. It is one of the factors that Keirin rider his father enters frame builder, too.
