Nope, no defending anyone. I didn't even comment on what happened after the
race since I didn't see it. Of course swinging a 2x4 at anyone (unless your in the wwf) is unacceptable but since I wasn't there to see it I left it alone. I will say I am glad he didn't do anything straight away when I (or you) may have gotten tangled in it. dan |

I have no knowledge of the facts or people involved, but USAC does have an interest in rider comportment, or whatever it's called. USCF rule 1.O.5. Abuse (c) No licensee may assault [...] or do battery [...] to anyone connected with any event (including but not limited to riders, officials, spectators, public officials, etc.) held under a USA Cycling permit [disqualified and suspended for one year] I'm sure this rule isn't always enforced. Depends on the egregiousness of the offense. And the number and importance of the witnesses. IIRC, a couple of years ago, Nothstein got kicked off a start line for having cussed at a cop while warming up. |

every year something of this sort comes up. always when the heat of summer
starts rising. interesting study could be made im sure. heat and testosterone mixing could be volatile.... Clearly the "cops" would have a role it it was reported. Also, note that Americans under their constitution can seek relief in civil actions if they wish without the obligation to have law inforcement involved. It is certainly a good idea in most cases to have them do most of the investigation, but it is not a requirment. > > Bob Schwartz > cvcc@execpc.com |

>What role did the police play when Mercer hit Myerson and broke his skull? It really depends on whether the cops want to help too. I had a car pass me on the right in the breakdown lane, cut left in front of me across the back of the field, go across a double yellow then cut back into the lane just barely missing the front of the field. This was near the start finish and I got the cars Plate, make, model and color. I had gave it to one of the cops within 2 minutes of the incident, and the car had just passed him, his comment was "Yeah, what do you want me to do about it?" I told him that I thought the driver had endagered everyone, and he said "Thats, your opinion." Seeing where this was going I went and found one of the State Police and they at least took a report along with making some really nasty comments about local yokel imitation cops, but in the end nothing ever happened that I heard of. Sometimes, even if they see it, they don't do shit. Bill C |

Rumor has it that he attacked Eddie Gragus with a saw horse a few
years back and also ended the career of another rider named John Brady. Greasy ponytailed idiot burnout. Glad Sundt got a few licks in on him before they pulled him of of Roberto. I'm sure there will be a special barrier or curb he'll choose just for Roberto in the next race. rondechampion@aol.com (Rondechampion) wrote in message news:<20040502125419.15149.00000592@mb-m17.aol.com>... > Last night at the crit in Anniston, Al he attacked Johnny Sundt with a 2x4. If you're not pro, he doesn't think you should be there, or should at least get out of HIS way. Oh well, natural selection will take care of things I'm sure. Tom |
