Speaking of which, I am wondering what kind of skinsuit Cipollini is going
to wear for the opening prologue. Last year there wasn't a prologue and he
was gone by the first time trial. You can always count on Cipo to liven
things up with some wacky skinsuit. Like that tiger stripe number!

Gold, actually, with that gold-lettered bike. WHere does he come up with
these things? And he did really well! He could get the pink jersey in a
couple of days! Go mario!

I also liked Garzelli's tiger helmet.

um it's possible but there's the little issue of the stage three
finish...... Mario doesn't climb so good. But then McGee and Madiot may
decline to defend it so who knows....

True, they get into the mountains early this year, but I think Mario will be
determined to get over that stage somehow. I read that he promised Pantani's
parents that he would dedicate his first stage win to Pantani, and when you
promise something like that you sort of have to deliver. If he hasn't won by
then he'll get over that mountain!

have no doubt that Mario will make all the mountaiuns up till 18-19. I
don't see him dropping out as early as stage 3.... Just that stage 3
and possibly 2 will put a big enough time gap into the race that Mario
and the other sprinters will have a very hard time wearing The Pink Shirt.

Isn't stage 18 where they do the gavia and finish in bormio?I think mario
may just bail out, either that or he'll finish outside the time limit.

Bormio is a world cup ski destination- I think down is the only direction
I'd want to go on THAT hill!

yep that's the one and there's Passo del Mortirolo (m. 1.855) - km. 12.8
- Gradient: 10.2 percent on stage 19, I've been led to believe that the
10.2% is average gradient and the is a section that is closer to 20%
(here's the profile:
http://www.cyclingnews.com/road/200...=stages/stage19 )....
Outside the limit is a destinct possiblity for more riders than just
Mario. Figure that this may his last Giro I hope he gives it all he has
to finish.
