Lasse and his family were missing a gene that caused the natural EPO to be
regulated. The whole family had dangerously high hematocrit and many died
young from heart attacks when their hearts could no longer pump surup.

Consequently it was this discovery that led to the discovery of the actions
of EPO and later the boitech development that haunts us now.

5000 and 10000m olympic champions twice, in both '72 and '76 olympics
probably the best middle distance runner ever

??????
number of victories and gaps on runner-ups speak otherwise
it's like you are saying that Anquetil may have been even better than
Merckx: no way

It seems that this is somewhat common among North Finnish population
The family of 1964 x-country skiing olympic gold Eero Mantyranta was
reported to have the same kind of genetic feature.

I think that I'm in error and that I really meant Eero Mantyranta and not
Lasse Viren but now it's all getting fuzzy. I need a beer.....

Less beer might be a better solution. There was a lot of controversy
about Lasse and blood doping at the time he won his Olympic medals.

Heh. That should be Lasse Viren++

A research team in Australia has recorded a reading of 92 ml/kg/min for
an Australian and world endurance track champion (unnamed).
