Lance will not do the Tour next year. He will concentrate on the Giro for five years, then when he has five wins, he will do the Vuelta. He will retire when he is about 45.
Ullrich will win the next 5 TdF's and they will resume their battles in the 2010 Vuelta. :-) |

Ha ha ha... someone with humor about this whole TDF. They should have one stage where every racer has to race on a stock Huffy 10 speed. And of course they will all be one sized. Funny how cheap bikes are sized by their wheel sizes. Will that be a 24" or 27" wheel bike sir? Nicholas |

With four victories in five stages plus the "no gifts" call, I am starting to wonder if Lance is riding this Tour like it is his last one. Perhaps he wants to end on a high note after totally dominating and then do other races next year, eg Giro, Classics. Will be interesting to see.

How about restating that question... "Do you really think a bloke who wins 6 TDF's, beat nut cancer, and Sheryl Crow by his side need to enhance his standing in the sport?" From what I see... he's on a roll. Let's see number 7! And let's hope it's TDF 7 and Giro in one year next time around. Winning it (assuming) 6 times is already for the history books and I'm glad that WE all a part of it. I think this year is themed "PROOF" for Lance. Next year if he pulls it off... it will be obviously the "LEGEND" theme. Safe riding... and just 3 more stages to go. Go Lance. Nicholas |

A few weeks ago I heard an interview on DC public radio about the Discovery deal. The "expert" said that part of the deal with Discovery is that Lance will ride the '05 Tour, as well as more races in Europe. Discovery wants to heighten their "name recognition" in Europe even more. He will be going for #7. He will also be developed into "on air talent" for the Discovery networks once he retires.

Actually interesting, while I work I listen to ESPN Radio. In the 20 minutes Sportcenter updates for the last 2 hours tonight (10pm-Mid) They said a source close to Armstrong in the Armstrong camp from Le Grand-Bornand stated that he would not race in next year's Tour De France, instead he will race in the Giro and the Vuelta for next season.
They were consistent in this report, but I haven't found anything on the net yet saying this. Last edited by Capt.Injury : 23-07.-2004 at 02:08 PM. |

I've one issue with this - Sheryl Crow. You'd think he could do better than her ? She's not exactly what one could consider good looking eh ? Speaking of good looking folks - if you get to see the podium presentation on Sunday - watch out for Mrs.Virenque. She was on Eurosport on thursday morning - now that's good looking ! |

[COLOR=Red][SIZE=2] I think he will ride in 2005. Why wouldn't he? plus they have Discovery as their new main sponsor. |

That does bring up something interesting... Virenque may have the hottie wife but that's why he's not going to win the TDF... he's too busy thinking about her. OR when he's hitting anarobic threshold and has to go the extra distance, he's thinking,"I have a hot wife already... why go for more?" Then fizzles out... So if you think Sheryl Crow isn't up to par, and knowing how methodical and strategic Bruyneel is, maybe it's all to ensure LA's 7th TDF. Maybe that's why I will never win the TDF. Nicholas |

He has a lot to prove. Not least to his sponsors! But he will come back because of his pride and his ability. 6 tours - that is just one more than 5. 7 tour victories. That is probably unsurpassable. Armstrong is arguably at the peak of his career, or still peaking. He has an undefeatable team, and all of them have seen the fate of Livingston, Hamilton and Herras after they left USPS. Their goal next year - to dominate the podium!
I am NOT an Armstrong or USPS fan. I am with CSC. But one has to give credit where it is due. Yes, Lance will be back and he will win again. |
