I gave LA just for example, because he has his own topic and thought for whole peloton..

Exactly what I was going to write. I hope he clears his name. If not, one of my heros just betrayed me.

Please people, innocent until proven guilty.

Murderers, rapists, swindlers, forgers, child molesters get that consideration. Is it to much to ask the cynics, naysayers and just the usual assortment of utterly hateful posters on this board to wait until all the evidence is in before passing comment?

Thank you.

Kate, you would put in a good word for Satan himself if he came to earth and ate half the population, and turned loose the dogs and bees on the other half.

Your feeble, blind comments are sort of ridiculous here. We have a report that Tyler failed a doping test. What more do you need?

I find it stunning that other members can argue that rampant doping in the peloton (if that is the case) casts a particular rider, such as LA, into added suspicion. The severity of allegations of doping (even by members of this board) against a rider, and the absence of demonstrated transgressions by a given rider, argue for self-restraint by those who are eager to use the trangressions of others to impugn the reputation of a given rider.

I am not sure about the false positivity of this test- may depend on the % of transfused blood found.
Red cells in circulation have a half life of ~60 days (ave lifespan 120 days)- transfused cells tend to last a shorter time. .
I see nothing positive about this. A person truly respected brought down. If truly guilty ( i wan't to believe Tyler is innocence- wether that is logical or not I don't know) it damages the sport, if not guilty I still don't think this is good for the sport.

Tyler is claiming innocence adamantly while Dick Pound almost sounds happy and content.

I am not sure about the reliability of the test, but to be + twice is suspicious especialy if the same antigen pattern emerged. The original article does not include good controls (only a small number of non transfused) but I would hope they have done extensive field testing before implementation. If the test is truly accurate I can think of only one rare instance that could potentialy give a false positive.

I should point out that Tyler actually is reported to have failed TWO doping tests, administered by two different bodies (UCI and IOC).

As much as I like the guy (and I do), it's still a reasonable subject for discussion.

He's screwed either way. If he's cleared, chances are any future successes will be highly suspected. If he's guilty, then he's banned for two years, and a(nother) major cycling figure is brought down and thus more bad news for cycling enthusiasts.

Feeble, blind, ridiculous...Gee, in this part of the world, we have certain standards in which people are given the benefit of the doubt and the presumption of innocence is granted to everyone. I'm sorry you live in a part of the world devoid of such basic fundamental human rights.

Any more names you want to call me because I disagree with you? Any more slams on my character you wish to sling at me?

I’m laughing too. When will this 80% wake up to the reality and stop flaming those posters who believe doping is rampant, even among the elite riders? Some of the “cyclists are not doping” arguments posted in the “LA doping” thread are ridiculous. Completely, utterly delusional.

This certainly sheds some light on all the riders who claimed they were suffering from a “stomach virus” at the Vuelta. I guess they all clued into the enhanced testing procedures at the same time.

I’m already having a good laugh about this mysterious “surgical procedure”. I wonder what other creative excuses his publicist will come up with? Maybe that he exchanged blood with Tugboat to save him from near-certain death? Or someone transfused his blood without his knowledge while he was sleeping?

Saucy, I think we should not be speaking about Tyler before all the different test results are done. My opinion. I am not condeming him yet These tests are ambiguous anyway.........I'll wait.

LOL -- clever attempt at dodging the issue at hand, which is Tyler Hamilton's reported failure of two doping tests.

Do you have anything important to say about that, now that you've begged for silence until all the facts are in?

No, I actually can wait until the facts are in. Thanks.

Great, then I can presume you'll stop posting about Hamilton then. Woo hoo!

Yeah, how about the B samples? How about Tyler's story? How about the accuracy of this new test?

I seriously wonder why some of you people even follow cycling. If success is de facto proof of doping, what's the point?
