...almost.

The Seattle Times, Seattle, WA, 10/08/06
A man was exhibiting strange behavior, hurling insults and threats randomly at passersby. Police say he then began focusing on a single pedestrian. He threatened the man's life, then pummeled him with a volley of punches and kicks until the man fell injured to the ground. The assault victim, a concealed-carry permit holder, retrieved his handgun and fired once at his assailant, who died at the hospital. "He was down there, minding his own business. There is nothing to think he was anything but a random target," said Seattle police spokeswoman Deb Brown.

Come to Cincinnati and ride in Winton Terrace. Make sure that you are riding a Wally World bike and dessed in shabby clothes and I can guarantee you that you will have a chance to use your weapon.

You could also go for a ride in North Fairmont but you will need to use your daily ride and dress like a bicyclist. If you are up for a sex change, you could ride alone on the Little Miami Bike Trail early in the morning or late in the evening and shoot all the rapists you want.

Actually you could ride almost anywhere in Detroit (Little Baghdad).

Thank the Lord I live in Italy. All we have is the mafia, cosa nostra, terrorism (home grown and imported!) and a completely dysfunctional government. But I do not have to carry a firearm to go cycling. Or to walk around.

Carabinieri and the bad guys have enough of those...

When you come to Chicago, you won't need a gun but you might need the Pope to help pray for criminals.

Illinois lawmaker robbed of $7
March 29, 2008
EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. --A 77-year-old Illinois state representative is happy to be alive after a man with a gun pushed his way into her home and robbed her of $7. Wyvetter H. Younge was not injured in the robbery that occurred around noon Friday. Younge said she thought her son had knocked on her door and opened it, but instead found an armed man. He told her to get on her hands and knees, then grabbed her purse and ran. Younge, a Democrat, said she didn't recognize the man, who wore a red hat and red jacket and dark pants. She said she's going to pray for him. "This robbery and what's happening to this community is the result of a lack of a supportive system for our youth. We need jobs," she said. "This happened in broad daylight at noon. We need a mental health support system. This is further evidence of that." Illinois State Police are investigating.

I guess if I don't need an umbrella in Southern CA, where it never rains , then nobody needs one in Seattle WA, eh? How does what you need where you are set a standard for what others may need where they are?

Eight dead in Italy shooting

A security guard has gone on the rampage in north-western Italy, killing seven people before committing suicide, police said. The victims are believed to be family members and neighbours, including his ex-wife and four other women.

Looks like the shooter ran out of ammo before the carabinieri arrived...

Thanks God I live in Slovenia. We don`t even know where Montenegro mafia is hiding here, we don`t have terrorism and our government is the best so far!I don`t need anything to walk or ride all over our country, let it be towns or virgin forest road...

Yeah, I know about the Carabinieri! You can't miss them. They carry enough firepower to start their own small war, and if you see them coming down the sidewalk toward you, you had better cross to the other side of the street or go back the way you came. They are like a one man swat team, but I guess you need these guys walking around when you have the mafia, cosa nostra, and red brigades to worry about.

All we have here in the US is the normal garden variety thugs and vermin that you can take care of by yourself if you are properly equipped. We do have street gangs that go by various names like Crips, Bloods, and M19. As long as you stay out of the inner cities and keep in the suburbs and countryside, they usually won't mess with you. I would love to see an altercation in the sticks between a street gang and a bunch of back country good ole boys. My money would be on the hill folks.

Well let us not exaggerate - they usually carry a machine pistol and a Beretta 9 mm sidearm (the same the US Army has adopted, if I am not mistaken).

The last time that I was in Italy was in 1980 and at that time they were carrying full scale assualt rifles. I didn't dare get close enough to see what their sidearms were . Yeah, the US Military has adopted the Beretta 9mm sidearm and it is sweet. I am a little nostalgic though, I learned to shoot with a Colt Model 1911 .40 cal pistol that the Beretta replaced.

Wonder what they were carrying then. Of course, you are talking about a particularly bad period here in terms of Red Brigades and the like... glad I was not old enough to remember much...

Got a little dare for you Steve, come to Cincinnati and we will take a little walk through the Winton Place section of town. I'll be carrying and you won't. We'll see who walks out and who's remains are carried out. There are a few places around here that are populated by pure savages, and if you are unfortunate enough to have to go there, you are taking your life into your own hands. Even the police won't go there unless they have backup.

Yeah? You reckon it's tougher than Port Moresby?

The Beretta replaced the .45ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) 1911, .40S&W is much more younger caliber.
Wherever you may be there's a chance to be the target of criminals.

My money would be on the hill folks.

They won't be comin' back from Copperhead Road.

I'll see your Cinnci and raise you the East Side of Cleveland.

My 'city-slicker', part-time neighbor and I were out on his farm shooting our M1 Garands yesterday (John C. Garand match coming up on April 26th) and I had a suppressed Walther P22 out for plinking.

The P22 makes a nice little cycling sidearm.
