Never mind about the post on ES, it was a long shot anyway. How many riders turn up for the club run? and do you do extra miles on other days. How many miles a week are you doing now. |

I do about 80 miles a week, plus many other sports. I do 40 mile club run on saturdays at slower pace with stop (about 10- 15 people turn up) and sunday training rides of about 40 - 55 miles (about 7 - 10 people turn up) at a faster pace of somewhere between 15 - 17 mph or 17 - 20 mph.

BRF is short for bikeriderfrance on the board. Just a shortened title. We'll have you riding for GB. |

hi there, bikeriderfrance here, want to ride for gb, east peezy, 1st up your milage to min 250 per week, contact the bcf and tell them you are a future olympic kilo rider, get in 5ooo miles before next easter, and enter the good friday meet at herne hill, enter all the events, and screw em in every one, voila they will give you £10,000 to ride for them,, ps still get in your 300 miles a week training. bon courage

Bloody hell BRF, He's only 13..I think it's easier these days... Not as many riders prepared to work at it... How many were you doing a week at 13/14? I could stick in about 160-180 miles riding and most of them were dedicated miles. but I had been at it since the age of 10 building it up, much like you did. We have a lad here, Phil, who doesn't have company from riders of own age group. If he can stay with the seniors, and pop a few extra miles in, come the new year he will have to increase the mileage anyway, and he will have more confidence in his ability and should be able to stick with them, and then pile on the miles. Hopefully by then they won't be able to shake him off, and his confidence will grow...Any advice from Lim? or others on our protege? |

Its hard for me to get out much around may way, due to the roads being 5 inches deep with pot holes, and the country side along way away
Being on a turbo trainer seems ideal to me, but would that be as good as riding properly out doors?( I will still get out for club runs every weekend) Also as its gettign darker sooner, I wouldnt really like to be cycling by myself in the dark..... Phil.....

That's the deal then for the darkdays. Turbo, special dispensation then, I know you'll do it. Of course we don't where you live in Essex, but most importantly it's the amount of lighting. BRF and I come from different sides of the Pennines in Industrial connurbations where with a bit of working out you could ride all night. We had few punctures. 'cos we didn't have hawthorn hedges. Bob Downs made it, why not you? |

Young Phil Hudson (sounds like a name from Monty Python).
Fair dues to you - suggest that you listen and learn to Fred C and BRF. They have a wealth of knowledge there, that would be invaluable to a youngster such as yourself. Great to see a young 'un getting in to the sport and enjoying it too. get your turbo - get out on the road if you can. if you can't get out on the road - you've got the turbo to rely on. Main thing is to keep pedalling. |

Any news from the blood transfusion service about missing stock? No wrong one. Any news on Tyler Hamilton over there? not much going on over here. |
