On two occasions I have been asked [by members of Parliament], "Pray, Mr. Babbage, if you put into the machine wrong figures, will the right answers come out?" We've never met, but when I was a kid, whenever I went up to my Scottish great aunt's for a holiday, I was *encouraged* to listen to Isla's folk records. It was pointed out to me (repeatedly) that in the family she did the Scottish singing & I did the Scottish dancing.
