Oh no. I was born & brought up in Geordieland. However, the ancestral roots are
part-Irish, part-Scot & part-German. I was not allowed to ever forget the
Scottish part ;-)

Get pan of water to boil, take sprout, say 'that is a pan of boiling
water'. Sprout is now cooked.

Enjoy

Perhaps it's because they think you might possibly be Prof Pat Pending
and about to metamorphose into a flying boat or something.

Sprouts can be lightly steamed in the back pocket during the ride, and
instead of carving up a big bird, perch bite-size goslings atop Lumicycle
35W lamps to roast nicely.

Oh, splendid! Welcome to the Dark Side :-)

So does this mean you'll have to modify your logo to be "Fat Bird On A
Trike" then <grin>

It is not possible to read too much Terry Pratchett :-)

Quite agree. I could never stand sprouts until I started cooking them
myself - previously I'd only had ones which had been boiled until they
screamed for mercy and then boiled a bit more to be on the safe side.

Having said that, I do boil mine, just not for very long.

In aggregate, maybe, but within a defined period of time it
undoubtedly is. Though not to anything like the same extent as with
Robert Rankin.

It'll be Fatbirdonatrikewithyouinatrice ;-)

All I need now is a flag of flourescent pink, with a one-eyed black cat on it,
and I'm sorted!

Festive cheers, helen s

Well Rankin's not nearly as funny IMO. I forced myself to read all of
_Armageddon, The Musical_ and got the impression that he was way too
impressed with his own cleverness. _The Antipope_ was rather better
though. And, to inject a smidgeon of on-topicness, it features Marchant
the Wonder Bike :-)

Jasper Fforde suffers a bit from "look how clever I am! " syndrome too,
but not nearly as much as Rankin - plus he writes much more sympathetic
characters which helps a lot.

I'd go along with that. Pratchett went through a phase when he wasn't so
funny (IMHO) but seems to have reverted to form with the more recent
books. Rankin seemed to be trying too hard to be funny, rather than
creating characters and an environment that is in itself funny.
