Thinking of taking the new roadie down to Black Rock to get a CycleFit. Anyone been fitted by Kennedy? How did you find it? Worthwhile?

Yes, yes, yes.
I used to be coached by him and was one of his CycleFit guinea pigs some (more than I want to remember ) years ago. I had my current bike custom made to my measurements.I found it worthwhile to get feedback on things like crank length, handlebar width, position of cleats on shoes and all those little things that can prevent injuries and get the most out of each pedal stroke. His bluntness is also very entertaining if you're a sensitive soul ![]() |

Cool - I think I'll head down there for a chat today and see what he has to say.
Thanks for the info. ![]() |

Yep - went down for a look. $250 for the fit puts it out of my "preventative" budget but will certainly reconsider it if I have any problems/pain. So far, I've had 200 pain free km's on the new bike so I'll wait a little longer to see if it's immediately necessary. Thanks for your replies. ![]() |

Ouch, I didn't realise the price had crept up that much! Yes, if it ain't broke, then why pay $250 to fix it ![]() |

It's WAY TOO MUCH just for a fit.
If you want a good fit, it would probably be cheaper to sign up with a good coach for a short period, and get them to set you up on your first session. |

LOL - exactly, I have heard a lot of good things about Kennedy but I think he may have let his stardom go to his head a little. Still, if people are paying $250, and he is busy then good luck to him! Otherwise, I might wait till winter and try again, he may have inflated his prices to catch the post Christmas/it's summer, let's ride a bike crowd. |

I'm actually shocked that it's now $250!! Are we sure about that price? I'm pretty sure it was 50 or 60 bucks 10 years ago, but as you suggest, if the demand is there, then good luck to him. |

After shopping around (and balking at the expensive Kennedy option) I found a coach who did a great fit for me, imrproving my position, solving knee pain and increasing power.

Isn't a little bit of teasing OK???
I saw Paul Parker. From memory, it was less than $70. |

disclaimer, I am a cycling coach, take what I say with that in mind.
I send my riders who want fitting to see John Beasley at Beasley Cycles. John's an expert, is a VIS coach, and will treat you with respect and courtesy, as well as charge a reasonable fee. Some of my riders have seen Kennedy, and some swear by him, others swear at him. YMMV. Debates as to the virtues of the position expounded by Kennedy and Hogg are left to the interested reader ![]() |
