Johannesburg South Africa
Network specialist. I've done the Argus 3 times (best was 4h15). This will be my 4th 94.7 (best was 4h07). I've never ever trained realy hard, but this year that has changed. Changed the gear ratio on my bike for the race and have been training twice a day since the Lost City race. Anyone doing the Hyper to Hyper? This is one great race. Nice and flat and fast. 100km my time last year was 2h24. |

Howzit to all the SAfricans 8). Are we taking over this forum or what? LOL
I saw it 'advertised' on the pathetic CycleLab message board and thought I'd check it out since I have been looking for a quality cycling forum for a while. I'm a Data Manager (satellite geology stuff and GIS software support) but may not be for long... retrenchments and all that ![]() I'm busy training for the 94.7 too but this weather over the last 2 weeks has really stuffed me around. I'm seeded in the A bunch so hopefully should get a 2:45 time. Depends how the quality training goes in these next 2 weeks... This weekend will be telling. it's the last chance to get a long easy ride in. My last Argus in 2000 was a 3:30 but it wasn't much fun starting from the back and trying to get through the crowd. Without Chapman's Peak it's just like riding any race around Jhb for me. I still may do it next year though. ouzo, the H2H is my fave race. I've contested the A group sprint 3 times. This year we did 2:14 which was pretty quick. I got dropped on the hill up to Silver Ball because of a lack of adequate warm up (got to the race late :-[) and had to chase over the next 25kms to get to the leading bunch. That was a great feeling. admin, that 100km in 1hr55min was impossible and they're rethinking the time bonus. It wa the first time they offered it. We had Robbie Hunter with some of his Lampre team mates here and they were still 25 minutes over the time. It was also dreadful weather with rain, wind and mist apparently. |

looking at your times for the Argus and 94.7 it looks like you're a relatively good rider. Now this make me feel much better about my 2h24 in the H2H. Wow 10 minutes off the pace. Not bad. |

Howzit buddies! The Vo2 is back in town! Had a GREAT weeks rest near the Wild Coast and an AWESOME Amashovashova race last weekend! I came in at 3hrs 20. What an awesome route! The climb up Inchanga Hill was everything I expected it to be...one of the toughest climbs I've done in my life! And THAT climb near the end of the race...GOH!!! I was averaging 5km/h up there! What a killer!
Anyway, time to hit the sack! Speak to you guys in the morning!

Hey Vo2
Have you ever tried the hills on the Jock? The race for Victory or Tour de Lesotho? Well I've done the first 2 but have yet to try the Lesotho race but I hear it's the toughest mountains in Southern Africa. ouzo, 2:24 isn't a bad time for the H2H. That's how long it took me in 1998. But my 2:14 was still 10 minutes off the pros. |

Now that's one ride I would luv to do - The Tour de Lesotho! From what I've heard, even the pro's don't feel ashamed walking up the God Help Me climb!
