In any case, it does not matter what got us onto this website, the point is, it's great, and no gimmicks needed to keep us here!  I'm relieved I'm not seeing what was starting to occur on other websites.

Thanks i'm glad you like it, cause I waste alot of time messing with it ;D
Out of interest what dont you like on other websites?

Elsa,

To get to Zwartkops from Kyalami. Turn left out of Kyalami and just keep going. You go through the circle and just keep going, you'll eventually see it on your left.

And no I dont think it's the gimmicks keeping you here, if you were one of the die hard three that were training at the track in that cold spell then I think you have alot to offer on this BB and dont need gimmicks to keep you here. Stick around, you'll have some fun.

Admin - I meant what I said, keep up the great work!

You asked what don't I like?  Are you sitting down?
Ok, I'll limit it to the worst things...

Some websites, in order to view a message, you have to click on the actual message.  This is time consuming, and even worse, when it eventually opens on the relevant message, the person has just written one line - the same line that was on the message heading!
To compare to cyclingforums' website, you have various headings, and then the messages are all easy to view, with the scrollbar!  Easy to view, easy to reply, and we get notified on email that there is a reply to what we have posted - we don't have to keep viewing the same message to see when someone replies.

The other things I don't like, is when someone offers advice, or asks a ligitimate question, and a 'wiseass' comes along, and belittles them, or makes wisecracks, which again, one has to click on message, and then read this wasted message!  I have not found that happening on here at all.  Everyone is courteous, and it's like website paradise!   ;D

Those are the more annyoing things, that I can think of at the moment.  If I think up any others, I'll be sure to let you know.    8)

Email notification is cool, you can even subscribe to threads you havent posted to. You can also unsubscribe to threads you get jack of

You wont find many wiseass's here, when they show their face their posts get deleted as soon as either vo2 or myself notice them. Its our forum (all members included) and we make the rules. If the members think something is un-acceptable then it gets the boot, this includes everything about the site (cept the admin of course ;D )

cheers!

Ouzo,

Thanx for the prompt reply, and the good directions.  I think it's a little too far out for me, so unless Kyalami opens, I'll stick to what I'm doing.

Thanx also for the kind words.  I will stick around, because I'm having so much fun, I'm on here too much already!  This morning I hardly got any work done, because I was so entertained on here.  I'm really impressed with the guys who are so willing to help the others, and the sharing of information!   ;D

Admin & VO2:

So you're the "law" around here.... interesting

I'm not sure if you've covered this anywhere else, but when did you start your website?  And does the ".com" indicate you are overseas, where?

Just to appease the curiousity...  ;D

;D

he he... looks like we're all addicted to BB.  Lots in common = we all love cycling, and computers...!

Only difference is, some of you are IT specialists, and some of us are not.  You can pretend to be doing your work, while parking on here ALL day... actually, now that I think about it, I could do the same.  Instead of typing a document for someone in my department, I could take ALL day to do it?

Now here comes a challenge.  We have ascertained that you guys have fast speeds while cycling, but what is your typing like?   ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

he he... I see some grins!!!  How many of you type with one finger, or two?  How many of you type the way you should - full house, i.e. all fingers???  now there, gentleman, I believe I have the advantage?

IT Guys 0

;D

the rest of you guys not in IT, what challenge do you want to put forward?  All in the spirit of fun, and clean please, or else the Admin & VO2 guys will have to  :-X you...

Brief history:
admin is from Balarat (sp?) Australia. He created the site early 2001. The site is hosted in Australia (about 9 hours GMT ahead of SA). I think when I joined, I was the only active non-Aussie member.

admin is the head honcho and chief moderator!
I moderate 'coz admin forces me too! ;D (moderators make sure the community stays, well, moderate, i.e no obsene language or discussions that some might find offensive or sensitive, like religion or politics).
Because most of our American buddies are MTB'ers, MtnBikerChk moderates the MTB forum. I believe I_Are_Baboon can be quite a handful, so when he steps out of line, she cracks the whip over there! ;D
We also have Team Leaders. These are members that we feel contribute the the site alot in terms of help or advice and/or have extensive cycling knowledge. Team Leaders are:
  • Andrea - 'coz only she knows whats cooking in admins head and 'coz behind every great man theres a great woman ;D
  • Willie - 'coz of his technical and mechanical knowledge
  • Sean_L - 'coz he is an A-class racer with heaps of Elite training and racing knowlege to share

hmmm, thats about it!

8) Thanks for that, VO2.

An Australian website    with the history between Australia & South Africa, what with Rugby, Cricket... need I say more?  There seemed so many SA people on here, I thought it was a local website with an overseas address.   ;D

Well anyway, this is CYCLING, and therefore, we will respect each other

So all you Australians, aside for Stuart O'Grady, who else have you got, that I haven't heard of?  You of course know all about our local talent, right?   ;D  I'm sure my fellow South African's have been telling you ALL about them....  8)

Well I'm back. This is going to be the end of me, getting stuck on chat sites, at least this one is worth it. Seems to be some really interesting people here, makes you think and almost generalise that cyclists must be some of the nicest sports people around. ;D ;D ;D

To Vo2, why did I move from Stellies? To tell you the truth, I just had enough of it after being there for 6years. :P :P It actually becomes too small after a while, and Pta seemed like the next best option. Couldn't move home (Port Shepstone, on the South Coast), etc. Can do my studies long distance.

Just miss the quieter roads of Stellies, the traffic here is enough to drive you mad. Will cycle there again hopefully within the next 2wks (have to go down again), and then for the Argus.

Is anybody doing the BMW racing challenge this weekend in Pta, or the Boskop race? It's the day before the Hyper to Hyper (some of us tried to enter too late >).

Anyway, pls let me know, especially what the terrain is like, so the I can at least know what I'm in for.

It makes you think Vo2. Thanks for the pics. Have some really amazing memories (some of them are a bit blurred, if you know what I mean).

We all have our reasons (and no, mine does NOT include any male species, amazingly enough). 8)
