I read an article once that told the story of a guy out training on a deserted road, who had just caught up to a girl out doing the same thing. Just as he was coming up on her wheel, she got out of the saddle, pushed her ass back and PISSED all over him. Needless to say, she was pretty damned embarrassed when she realised he was there (shouting expletives at her). Eeewwwwwwww. |

I believe Greg LeMond had diarhea once while racing in the Tour de France, he just pooped in his shorts and he smelled so bad that his domestiques wouldn't go anywhere near him. He went on to win the Tour. Now that's a stud muffin if there ever was one.

Runners don't do it all the time, I'm in cross country for my high school and we don't take a wizz in our pants, we stop and find a tree. But really you do get more energy if you just stop during a race, because 1) youre lighter and 2) it feels a ton better so you run faster. BUT we don't just go during mid-stride if thats what youre asking. |

You actually stop during the race? Highschool crosscountry races are so short. Stopping in one would be the equvalent of stopping in a 10k TT. You'd lose tons of spots. Myself, I've tried to pee off the bike a lot of times. I just can't squeeze a drop. Some sort of stage fright factor. I've had teammates push me along, I'm tried to just go in my pants, etc. But it just won't let go! It's a terrible feeling when in the first 10k's of a 100+k road race you realize you have to pee and pace is already fast. Leif

Now this is funny. I am a newbie at biking and this is the third time I have heard or had this discussion, but this one takes the cake (no pun intended).

While watching the world championships in Hamilton this year I saw a guy well of the pack just before the feeding station taking a leak. Kinda of made sense as the the race was 6 hours and it was only about an hour in you can't hold it that long.

I so often wished I could do that but I am too scared and embarrased, so I get off the bike, find the nearest bush and loose a lot of time in the meantime.

I have a buddy who is a serious marathoner, and who goes to the start of a race with a PowerAde bottle, into which he discharges his pre-event, nervous pee, he then jetisons the bottle after the first k or so. Once the race has started the serious runners just run and pee and then sponge themselves off as they pass a watering table. Canoeists tend to just pee in the boat, if it is equipped with pumps they pump it out, otherwise it just says at the bottom of the boat. You can always tell who has pissed in the boat by the fact that they always fall into the water after the finish (to cool off they will tell you, but we know better!), number twos are more of a problem because of their tendecy to float! I cycle in a hot climate and must be abnormal because I never need to pee during a ride or a race, probably I am not hydrating enough.

Yeah I used to do rowing and in those long head races you had to row about 20 mins upriver and then sit another 20mins waiting for your start... Some of my clubmates couldn't take the wait, having been well hydrated, so they would just go in a bottle - or worse get the rest of the crew to balance the boat while they stood up and fertilised the riverbank.
But mid-race? ewww...

I don't normalyy go during a race because you can lose a ton of spots. For instance the first runner is usually a good 100 meters ahead of the second one, so when Im in first if i were to stop and take a leak, then the next runner would pass me, and that would be too valuable time, so I let it out before a race. Usually right before if I can. |

Okay, girls, after reading all this, check out these sites:
http://www.womenstandtogo.com/productimage.htm and http://jkelland.trustpass.alibaba.c...s/EeZeeWee.html Now you too can pee from your bike if needed. The first has an eight inch hose, they don't say about the second. Maybe shorter shorts would work. I'm ordering one anyway, what a break from squatting and getting it on your foot!
