I watched that TTT again : and LA was sweating profusely compared to the other riders on his team and riders in opposing teams.
Maybe I am biased but he didn't look as comfortable as he usually does.
Is this a tell tale sign ? I don't know.

Maybe, but remember that Armstrong is a very good actor too. When you think he is finished he resurges from hell. Remember years 2001 and 2003?

The way to beat Armstrong is for all the contenders to launch attacks on him, wave after wave if need be, leaving the best man to win in Paris. If everybody unites against Armstrong, they stand a good chance of succeeding. Anything short of that will likely be what we saw last year.

I agree with this... its the only way........ the problem you get with this is that riders who are trying to maintain there 3rd, 4th etc will chase down someone who is in second or third thus Armstrong will not have to chase as someone will do it for him......

Very true. Who can forget CSC chasing down Ullrich last year? The fact that this looked like some sort of deal had been done between CSC and UPS made this even worse. Please CSC, don't join up with Lance again this year.

There statement after the stage was that they were trying to protect Basso's 2nd place.... but now we know it leaves a bad taste in ones mouth..... that’s why I liked Beloki in 2003… he said he didn’t want to ride for second or try to protect it.....he just wanted to win… what we did see of him showed that he wanted to do just that….. so Basso et al do the same this year and stop the games..... ! !

Yeah, it is hilarious.

And proven.

But don't just take my word for it.

Great move by Vino today. Had a great chance at the stage today and a nice way to pick up some seconds on Armstrong.

It was a masterstroke because there was no way Disco/Armstrong was going to chase through the sprinters teams... it would of been to dangerous.... very smart move..... caught Armstrong napping...... there will be doubt in LA's mind as he will never know when Vino will attack... he can attack anywhere....... even in the rain......

Do you guys think that Vino went for it on his own, or was it sanctioned by Godefroot and T-Mobile??

Part of Jan's plan or just part of the plan for securing Vino's own Yellow Jersey hopes?

I think it was a Vino move sanctioned by T-Mobile and Jan..... its the one two double act..... in the mountains maybe will see an attack by Vino to soften the peleton and Disco and then Jan will go for the knockout punch.......... I'm salivating already ! :-)

I think Vino is doing it on his own. Whether sanctioned or not, T-Mobile will not be yelling at him though. They have to be wondering about Jan and Kloden's performance, and given their budget they need to be seen in contention. So they will allow Vino to continue being a 'loose cannon'... everything Jan is not.

I imagine that T-Moblie is encouraged by today's result. But... I wouldn't want to be a DS trying to plan strategy for the upcoming days. It seems that LA's team is much like the wealthiest teams in other sports. They have packed their ranks with a lot of talent from across the board, so it can be hard to win attacks against them.

We will have to wait for the mountains, I guess...
