This article says several canadian athletes tested positive for a designer steroid at an event in Western Canada comprised of only Canadians - this year's road nats? Not pointing any fingers at anyone but things could go from worse to BAAAAAAAAAAAD in drug scandal terms!

Yes.
And what will be served by it all? Lives will be ruined. Careers wrecked. Dick Pound will prune a little with pride. The labs will make more money. Sport will not be one bit better off. It will not level any playing fields. Just one more useless, unproductive and unsuccessful "War on Drugs". |

Do you believe that athletes should use Performance Enhancing Drugs? Akin to the no-resrictions categories in bodybuilding?

I think WADA is far too over zealous.
Penalities are unreasonable. Too much of it is a scam. I don't think people really care. |

If I may, I'd like to add a follow-up to Uboat's question.
What if an athlete chooses not to risk spawning an "autistic" and/or "deformed" child? Should they be shut out in favour of the FDA-approved Olympics sponsored by (insert your pharamaceutical manufacturer of choice)? And if the populace doesn't really care, why do athlete's continue to blame others for their downfall? Specifically, I'm refererring to David Millar's disgusting response to Gaumont's confession and Hamilton's (unintentionally) hilarious response to doping charges. |

Yes, I think athletes should use some performance enhancing drugs.
Vitamins are performance enhancing drugs. Do you want to ban those? I think the penalties are too steep and there are too many products being banned. The testing is inconsistent at best. Lifertime bans are too much. Fine the athletes. Identify them and let the market take its course. An athlete that is dirty too often won't be very sought after or approved by the media or the public. Don't ruin people's livres. Let them ruin them on their own if they insist and persist. |

I do not want my kids taking dope to perform better than the next person. I am willing to let GJ to take the fall if it protects my children's future health. GJ and her coach are a freak show any ways. Unfortunately, a big price to pay for Canadian cyclists. Good riddance to her and her coach.
I agree with your point regarding the dopers ruining themselves, but, you know who really pays the tab...you, me, Jon Jonson, Uboat, et al. In direct monetary terms, our tax dollars will pay for rehabilitation, whether invoiced through drug repercussions or a "on the job" scam. Quote:

BB,
Your kids will probably try drugs just for kicks, not for performance enhance, as I would suggest you or some or your friends have probably done as well. Drugs pervade out society in pop culutre and sport. The only difference is that in sports, especially amateur sports, your entire career can simply be stolen by questionable and inconsistent tests. |

A problem is that the country (or sport) that applies this strict punishment will be on the bad end of an unlevel playing field for awhile. If that is Canada (or cycling) , then so be it. Get it over with. |
