I just purchased a Park PFP-3 pump and I really like the quality and performance of it so far ( 3 months). It inflates quickly and the head locks on both Schreader and Presta valves very well. For the money, $25.00, I think it is well worth the money. ![]() |

After starting this thread I decided to go with the Silca Super Presta pump. I ordered one for www.coloradocyclist.com and it should arrive Tuesday. Thanks for all the responses and I'm hoping to get good use out of the new pump.

I have some Low level Blackburn floor pump which is working reasonably well besides the fact that that i'm not sure it was made for threaded presta valves, it is quite difficult to get on to the valve and way to hard to get off. I may just have slightly odd valves, but i like my tubes and am wondering which pump would work well with threaded valves. I also need it to work with shraeder for my mtn bike.
I have heard some really good things about the Silca, but i have also heard plenty of bad things. Does the Park PFP-3 work well with threaded presta valves? |

Well, I think the Blackburn pumps have a locking head as well, so you have to flip the lever on and off to clamp and unclamp the valve. Is this the one you have?

I have a Silca track pump and have had no problems except that the leather (?) piece attached to the plunger inside the barrell has weakened and blew out on one side renedering the pump useless. How do you replace this?

no, thats not the one i have, and it does lock and i am able to inflate it once i manage to sort of jam it onto the valve, and then its a big mess trying to get it off again, its like its too small for the valve. Edit: wow i just now feel retarded, i have some wrench force pump.....i do not know how i got that confused with Blackburn, but i managed to do it, my dad got it a few years ago and i'm sure it wasn't expensive. i'm thinking it may just be a crappy pump then

usually easy to get, cheap and easy to replace. I think it's called the "chuck" some people recommend heavily greasing the chuck, and others suggest soaking it oil something like linseed oil before use ....? |

G'day. This is my first post in here. I found this thread via Google. I've been thinking of buying a floor pump, question is which one? I've suspected that a narrower chamber would yield greater pressure, so I'm glad to see someone saying the same effect. This is essential as I'm looking to get up to 80-90psi. But I'm not particular strong, and weigh around 60kg, so I can't put through much force. I'd like to know what pumps people recommend that have a narrow chamber. High pressure isn't that important. Being able to get there is. As a side, I've recently tried an Airman portable air compressor, and found it useless. I found I can actually get more pressure quicker with my hand pump (45-50psi). But as stated, I'd like higher pressures. Thanks. |

I also vouch for the Topeak Joe Blow Pro. What sold me on it is the fact that almost every LBS I visited in my area use the Joe Blow Pro as their floor pump. Mine has been very reliable with our four bikes. Cheers, Ron
