Here is an old story I dug up to get people going - I recollected after chatting on the Iran post. It comes from an American girl who couldn't find a he-man in London and claimed Londoners were a washout where women are concerned.
What think ye all? Here is the article I dug up: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/873862.stm "Despite their "sexy" accents, British boys just do not make the grade compared with their American counterparts. That is the considered verdict of Mary-Catherine Lader, the 15-year-old daughter of the US ambassador to London. Miss Lader made her opinions known in an article which appeared in Tatler magazine. She said that in the three years she has been in London she has come to the conclusion "British boys really suck". 'I'm tempted to give up on relationships with British boys,' she wrote in Tatler magazine. Miss Lader said: "At first I gave all the boys who had underwhelmed me the benefit of the doubt but, after three years, I've finally distinguished what it is - that American guys have it and Brits don't. "After being set up with various public schoolboys, dating ordinary Londoners and enduring a great number of drunken stories at parties, I have a new-found appreciation for American guys." Miss Lader, who goes to the all-girl school St Paul's, joins film star Minnie Driver in the lad attack. Ms Driver recently said British men who had taken her out were "cheap". Miss Lader added: "Constant sunshine and the obsession with sport fills US high schools with tanned, athletic guys. "British boys seem to be a little more scrawny, pale and unhealthy looking. "Even most British girls I know admit that American guys beat their English counterparts when it comes to looks." ![]() |

when i was in the states i was fighting the women off. especially those that worked in bars/ restruants etc. They were flirting with me even though my wife was sitting at the same table...she was pretty angry to the point when she almost slapped one women. i remember it was lunch time so we went to macdonalds (when in rome and all that)..on the way out this woman came up to me and said that she could help but admire my scottish accent. I was wearing a t-shirt that said 'Rocky Mountain search and resucue' and the woman said, i love a strong man that can save lives...i just said, 'look lady this is just a fasion t-shirt, pull your knickers back up'..
my wife liked that one... it is true, american girls are very easy....especially the country type...(daisy duke) so, perhaps yer average londoner is a wash out, i always thought you southerners were a bit limp wristed anyway..but not all brits are like that... Quote:

Is it true? Comments please, folks!:
"Miss Lader's experience suggests that sexual ineptitude spans the class divide, but there are many who believe the British male's notorious inability to relate to women stems from single-sex public schools. The young American may have enraged Britain's boys, but her words received a guarded welcome from teenage girls. Emma Dockerill, 18, from Essex, said Miss Lader had a point on the British male's physique. She said: "I know what she means about the awful tight trousers. Up until the age of 17 or 18 boys are all a bit thin and weedy, and after that, they start getting beer bellies." Miss Lader's incendiary announcement that "British boys really suck" was based on her experiences of three years in Britain. Her damning list of personal and sartorial shortcomings included a lack of appealing social skills, over-tight trousers and overwhelming arrogance. Warming to her theme, roughly that her host country is peopled by monstrous hybrids of Kevin the Teenager and Adrian Mole, Miss Lader castigated London's Bright Young Things as a bunch of fumbling louts who were puzzlingly proud of their drunken exploits, and worse, "scrawny, pale and unhealthy looking". In an article in Tatler magazine, she said: "My mother tells me that all teenage boys tend to be relatively insecure and, or, full of themselves. American arrogance, however, takes the form of a desperation to impress and amuse girls, while British arrogance seems to result in anti-social superiority and sulking." Having gone out with public school boys and "ordinary Londoners alike", she had discovered a new-found appreciation of American boys, she said. They dressed better and took relationships more seriously." |

Hmmm, you're exempt. As you were with your wife, it was evident you weren't single. The criticisms made by this American female were aimed at single guys she met in clubs and bars, not married guys.
Here are some comments: "She obviously hasn't been to college yet and been spewed on by all those brawny jocks. Why is racism such as this tolerated in the press?" Duncan "Surely its because the young lady has only been snogging supposedly eligible Brit boys - who must be public school boys, locked away from female company. What does she expect? Long discussions on Sartre at a party? As to American boys - I think she'll realise that ultimately, most men are after one thing. Get real honey!" Jane "The real shame in this girls statements is not that she stereotyped British Men, but that she also stereotyped those of us in the States as well. While growing up in Minnesota, I can guarantee you I was not "tan and fit", rather I was bundled up for the 60 below zero temperatures and was white as a ghost. Granted, there are those here in the States who are tan and fit, but there are those who are also flabby and pale. I would have to say the same about the UK." Shawn The young Miss should be reminded that English boys grow up to be English men - like Hugh Grant. Lee, USA This all smacks of discrimination. Why is it OK to make comments about men when similar comments about women would bring out an outburst of feminists going on about 'sexism'. Ann Quote:

Folks:
Perhaps we should consider the source: Quote:
It's rare to meet a 15 year old who isn't an eyewitness to their own lower intestine. Her opinion is hardly newsworthy. Dan

I don't know why it is but American females seem to me to be more open and friendly than British females or even some Europeans. In other words, American girls can be quite nice and bubbly. For sure, many U.S. girls are attractive too depending on which state you happen to visit. So long as they're slim and not too "rotund" I'll do my level best to chat them up.

While her comments did bring a fleeting smile to my face, she sounds like a spoiled little brat. You can pigeonhole folks anyway your twisted mind can stuff them, but it doesn't change a thing. I've travelled a little, and it has been my experience that there are gems and rocks everywhere.
For all those Brits whom this little twit dissed, I say you are better off without her. You know she would just whine the whole time you were with her.

British beer is made to be drunk at, or slightly below, room temprature. Like a fine red wine. Never chilled. Trust me, British real Ale is great. Lager on the other hand is consumed chilled. Thats how we drink it.

Even lager should be consumed at around 8C.Below 6C your taste buds start to go numb.Lagers from oz or the us have large amounts of cane or corn sugars in them.Serving them chilled below 6C conceals the lack of malt flavour.
British beers are served at the temperature that releases the flavour.

To get back on topic, the "American female" was some kid; the ones of legal age love Brits, so that's O.K. then.
