hey,

i'm over 4 months into recovery from a collision between a honda gold wing motorcycle (800 lbs) and me on a carbon bike ( less than 20 lbs)... him 35 mph, me 15 mph. headon. he jumped to pass the motorcyle in front of him as they were coming out of a curve. me, no time to do nothing. that happened on a rural roadway.

would i vote for motorcycles on bike paths?
hell no!

i survived, but i wouldn't bet on the next guy/gal surviving. i'm still rehabing and can only ride a stationary bike.

cu,

Sorry to hear of your accident. When I was a motorcyclist, we nicknamed these lead wings.

There is an obvious and apparent conspiracy to encourage people to use cars and other motor vehicles. This (proposal) is just another part of that plan. Over-charging for train tickets is a major part of that plan (in the UK it is often cheaper to use a personal motor vehicle than it is to buy a train ticket).

The leaders like roads, cars, pollution, death and illness. They promote suffering as it pleases their master (Lucifer). It is as simple as that.

I used to ride a motorcycle but stopped over 3 and half years ago when, after 120,000 miles, the motorcycle developed a few serious malfunctions. I chose not to repair it but to instead concentrate on my powered-bicycle design. My objectives are clear: to develop a bike that can be used on dirt tracks, cycle paths, farm tracks, cross country routes and over as many different types of terrain as possible.

I cannot handle the stress of the roads, and the danger is unacceptable (increasing the danger of the roads is also apart of the agenda of the beloved and trusted leaders) and I vow to avoid them as much as possible. I am absolutely against allowing motorcycles to use bicycle paths. My bike is designed for all-day cruising at around 20mph, although it will have the capability to go much faster under power if the need arises (such as being chased by a motorist after flipping him/her off). It will have a motor (maybe a compressed-air motor with light-weight toroidal tanks, or an electric motor combined with a tiny ICE) but that is only to enable me to travel a couple of hundred miles or so in a day, and is intended for rural/wilderness areas anyway, not cycle paths (although using an electric motor on its own at a slow speed (10-15mph) I think would be acceptable when used responsibly (although that might technically be deemed a ‘motorcycle’, when I say I am against motorcycles I mean the typical, what is commonly perceived as a motorcycle)).

If motorcycles are to be permitted onto cycle paths they should be of a certain type, and that type alone. The type I mean is this:

Because with that type of motorcycle the engine can be switched-off prior to entering the cycle path and the bike propelled under human power whilst on the cycle path.

So let’s fight this proposal and use it to promote power-assist bicycling instead! Just imagine how much better life would be if just a small percentage of car drivers (and motorcyclists) got rid of their cars (and motorcycles) and used power-assist bicycles in their place!

oh boy

what is this all about

i think the greater conspiracy is this guy

1
why would i bother hooking my pride and joy up to what looks like a husqvarna wannabe
2
can i please have that halogen .00001w huffy light attached to the handle bars there
3
what are those $2.50 peddles you have got on this amazing hot air machine i bet they stopped making them in the 80's
4
why choose a mongoose of all frames to impress us with you go and choose a piece of shit welded together by a monkey
5
what the f$%^ck is the ICE for are you scared of facing your actions after flipping the bird to some knuckle dragging jail ape could this be the scenario
"oops i gotta gotta go ill flip the switch on my ICE and hey presto im cruising now im tougher tha leather doodes ive flipped the bird and bubba aint gonna catch me now."

overall
no matter what speed you are doing this isnt allowed on nsw roads without rta having something to say about this.

look im all for free speech but this is not when it comes in the form of

"im just a simple minded guy that wants vent his frustration out on the road by having this little mosquito for big cars to swat at"

im sorry at the risk of sounding like a troll / flamer/ stick in the mud

its best you stay in the hills my friend far away

I am going to reply to you in bullet points:

* The picture is not of my own bike; it was taken directly from the Golden Eagle site.

* Would you rather have people in cars or on Gold Wings, or would you rather they rode power-assist bicycles? – Because they will never replace their beloved autos for pedal-power alone.

* Have you ever been chased by a person driving a 1-ton steel battering ram at high speed? Are you so myopic you are unable to envisage a scenario that would require a fast getaway? You think you will be able to pedal away from some psycho in a 100mph+ petrol guzzler, where there is nowhere to hide?

* Are you so strong you are able to travel 300 miles off-road in mud and up hills puling a 250kg trailer, each and every day for a month? Power-assist makes that possible, or do you prefer relying on others to do your towing, such as your big sister with her Volvo who will meet you when you get there? Or do you like to rely on the post man to carry your 250kg’s of equipment who will hopefully deliver it to a pick-up point at your destination (there are lots of post offices in the mid-dessert)?

* Are you so infallible, so indestructible that there exists absolutely no possibility of you becoming ill or injured 1000 miles from the nearest help? Because if a person were to become incapacitated all alone and their pedaling ability severely impaired, how are they to escape? By using the engine, that’s how.

* Power-assist bikes are road legal provided they have been registered and tested (plus rider insured, etc.). I am referring to UK law. In the USA most states allow the denizens to ride petrol-assist bicycles without a license, registration or insurance. Hell, ultralight helicopters can be flown by anyone above a certain age in the USA whether they have insurance, a pilot’s license, training or none of these things! Small electric-powered bicycles are legal in most places without insurance, etc., providing their power-output is below a certain level. But do you want to be a dead fish and flow with the mainstream, or do you want to express your [suppressed] infinite genius and start to think laterally? Petrol-power away from people, electric-power around people. Petrol power uses electric motor in reverse to recharge the battery. Electric motor is silent, so few will notice it.

* I am into capability, versatility, freedom, unhindered mobility, flexibility, adaptability, preparedness, edification and amelioration. More things are possible with power-assist, more ambitions can be realized, more places seen, more achievements made and more security provided.

why not use yours if you advocate then demonstrate

* Would you rather have people in cars or on Gold Wings, or would you rather they rode power-assist bicycles? – Because they will never replace their beloved autos for pedal-power alone.

ill go for cars and goldwings

You think you will be able to pedal away from some psycho in a 100mph+ petrol guzzler, where there is nowhere to hide?

um no because i havent been on a movie set before and i think that this situation probably would never occour with me because as a road user i believe that the car has the right to the road as do i and i would never encourage rage by as you so eloquently put it flippin the bird.

where would i hide perhaps up my own arse because im only do some quick math here youll have to check my figures but at 100mph+ im not going to get too far away by pedalling. even if i had your machine

* Are you so strong you are able to travel 300 miles off-road in mud and up hills puling a 250kg trailer, each and every day for a month? i ride in urban areas so im not going to quantify your statement its something that cannot be factored into on urban commuter cycle routes.
i never said that i did any of this so i would use a car or a truck
my sister doesnt drive a volvo she sold it to your mama

oooooooookkkkkkkkkkkkaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy

if your going to fly an ultralight with certification or licensing whynot its right just dont crash into me please.

ill be happy suppressing my genius as well as supressing my childhood fears and my rage against the people who took the panasonic cup off television

good for you

my statement is this

hybrids arent bicycles they arent motorcycles there ridden by a minority that refuse to conform to either subset of transport

if your going to push your idea to a bunch of cyclists dont come here with a whole bunch of religious pontification.

as far as im concerned i will never entertain this as a form of transport its some backwater idea that i have never had to much time for hybrids

cyclists have a hard enough time being taken seriously we dont need this clogging up our road network.

What are you talking about? I am demonstrating my advocacy of power-assist bicycles by my posts here. I am also, as I have made rather clear, in the process of designing my own power-assist bike (over 3 years a work in progress).

Guess what? I have not been on a movie set either, but here in reality I have been chased before, several times.

People have chased me in purely unprovoked ways, i.e. by my doing nothing to them. And you coined the phrase ‘flippin the bird’, not I.

Of course you are not going to get far by pedaling, when the aggressor is doing 100mph, that’s what the motor is for. Comprende?

Urban areas have hills too. Power assist can take local delivery vans off the road. But I guess you are too blind to see that.

You never said that you rode off-road with a heavy trailer. That’s right. Did I say you did? Was my original post aimed at you personally? – No. But you chose to aggressively respond to it anyway. Do you have anger management problems? I think you do. Learn to restrain yourself. In fact, go for a ride in the wilderness and escape that horrid city. It might make you lighten-up a little. You need to chill out.

So you would use a car or a truck. Marvelous. What an ambassador to human power you are. You must have a lot of friends here.

I knew you would respond like that, I actually expected you to write 'satellite phones'! So instead of relying on yourself you would call the rescue team and have them fly 2000 miles to pick you up. Do you have servants to wipe your arse for you as well?

Or they could be people making the most out of both types of transport. The power-assist bike is a smart coalescence of the automobile and the HPV. Do you use a 1,000lb truck to go 5 miles to pick up your weekly shopping? Do you see something wrong with that?

Religious pontification? What’s that supposed to mean? Sounds to me like a somewhat moronic thing to write!

You are too blind to espy the obvious advantages of power-assist. Oh well, some people are like that, completely impervious to new thinking, new ideas, paradigm-shifting proposals and amelioration. My words are wasted on the likes of you, an unreceptive barbarian.

Yeah, lets keep clogging the roads with cars, trucks and 500lb motorcycles instead. For God's sake, were your inebriated when you made your post?

that sounds like religious rantings to me
[/font]What are you talking about? I am demonstrating my advocacy of power-assist bicycles by my posts here. I am also, as I have made rather clear, in the process of designing my own power-assist bike (over 3 years a work in progress).

why not show pictures thats all im saying if its taken so long its gotta be bloody good you get get one smilie for every year
lthough it will have the capability to go much faster under power if the need arises (such as being chased by a motorist after flipping him/her off).

im sorry but that still sounds like you pissed them off further by acting irrationaly

this is the best part it is here that i need some help understanding you

Urban areas have hills too. Power assist can take local delivery vans off the road. But I guess you are too blind to see that.

i cant wait for my groceries to be delivered by hybrid in the blazing hot sun my milk just bubbling away

or what about if i need important parts for my car that i want to restore just sit back and wait for the bike to travel at pissweak speeds and by the time it gets there my grandkids will have finished the bloody project

You never said that you rode off-road with a heavy trailer. That’s right. Did I say you did? Was my original post aimed at you personally? – No. But you chose to aggressively respond to it anyway.

no i chose to look at it in context to my situation and also i tried to look at that original statement rationally but you know what you cant look at your responses rationally you know why because its built on a flawed concept the original thread spoke of motorcycles on bikepaths not hybrid vehicles which as i explained before is what yours is its not a bicycle its not something i would consider it goes against the very grain of cycling i takes the fun from underneath it all

Do you have anger management problems? I think you do.

i think you think too much

Learn to restrain yourself. In fact, go for a ride in the wilderness and escape that horrid city. It might make you lighten-up a little. You need to chill out.

no ill be fine thanks .

So you would use a car or a truck. Marvelous. What an ambassador to human power you are. You must have a lot of friends here

hahaahahahahahahahhhahhaa

thats good and mostly funny

i would use a truck or car a tractor for the right application in rural areas
it has nothing to do with the cycling movement most of us have cars

and why for the love of beryl do i need to find friends on teh internet this is a forum not adultchat or singleguys or imhot4you people post on this forum because of their like or dislike of certain topics related to hold on................ wait.................. CYCLING so i think you might need re-examine your soapbox its starting to look a little shaky

I knew you would respond like that, I actually expected you to write 'satellite phones'! So instead of relying on yourself you would call the rescue team and have them fly 2000 miles to pick you up. Do you have servants to wipe your arse for you as well?

oh great a technophobe so i choose to act safely when i camp or im going to be in areas with little orno human contact sily me for trying to stay alive

this is getting tiring

Or they could be people making the most out of both types of transport. The power-assist bike is a smart coalescence of the automobile and the HPV. Do you use a 1,000lb truck to go 5 miles to pick up your weekly shopping? Do you see something wrong with that?

there is absolutely nothing wrong with picking up the shopping in your CAR its safe than packing your shite into a stoopid box trailer and pullin your stoopid cord in the carpark

a smarter coalescence is smarter town planning not smarter transport you knob

You are too blind to espy the obvious advantages of power-assist. Oh well, some people are like that, completely impervious to new thinking, new ideas, paradigm-shifting proposals and amelioration. My words are wasted on the likes of you, an unreceptive barbarian.

man for once look at yourself will you your stinking up the place with your own self flagellation

Yeah, lets keep clogging the roads with cars, trucks and 500lb motorcycles instead. For God's sake, were your inebriated when you made your post?

no but i know by the way youve set out your argument to the original thread it would seem that your parents were when they concieved you.

ill be happy suppressing my genius as well as supressing my childhood fears and my rage against the people who took the panasonic cup off television

can i ask that if you are going to make fun of the sport i enjoyed and played could you at least take the time to research your picture a little better

the panasonic cup was rugby league not afl

whats the sheep mean ???? what because i like my sport to be televised when i cant watch it at teh stadium im just a person who gives into the corporate machine

man youre hopeless

im interested to know were you ever picked for sports of any kind i would judge by the way you go on like you do i would thikn that the only sport you got picked to do was remedial reading

look we can flame all day and the only thing we will achieve is the fact that we can flame each other

so how about you go back to your harry potter book and your grandoise bike that looks like it will take another three years to build and leave cycling to the cyclists

i tell you what even better why not try posting your ideas on a HPV forum then you can collect all the Kudos from the other three people that agree that your form of transport is good for the environment.

Yeah with truck-driving HPV promoting cyclists like you, this forum and the world of bicycling has it made! Yay, the future's bright!

tell you what, why don't you leave forum posting for people capable of thinking? Take some Vinpocetine, try to encourage some circulation in your head area. You have shown yourself to be a moron. Go hang your head in shame and return ye not.

lets get back to the topic at hand, which is MOTORBIKES in BICYCLE lanes, and those FOR and AGAINST.

so back on topic... ideologue... since when can a powered pedaled *bicycle* of any kind outrun a vehicle going at over 160km/h? on those skinny as hell tyres with next to no weight? on the road with all its bumps and potholes and sharp bits? i mean come on... theres only one type of bicycle that can do that, and its a motorbike... a big one. a heavy one, one with fat tyres and suspension so you dont go arse over tit when you hit a pothole. human powered bicycles, no matter which engine/motor you put on it will not handle **safely** at the speeds you are talking about... and if you did succeed in hooking your bike up with a motor that would allow you to outrun a pissed off 4-wheeler then that vehicle would be considered... A MOTORBIKE! just the thing we want to keep out of the bicycle lanes.
apart from that, having a motor on your pushie that can generate that sort of power is plainly illegal in this part of the world, adds a ridiculous amount of weight to an otherwise functional and perfectly efficient form of transport, and is blitheringly suicidal.

i repeat, having a motor on a normal bicycle that can generate enough power to outrun a car/truck/whatever thats going 100+mp/h (thats over 160km/h) makes you a motorbike, and thats what we dont want in bicycle lanes.
