Do any of you peoples know anything about stationary trainers?

Was thinking that is cold, wet and dangerous outside so was thinking about getting one.

Torpedo7 just sent me an email for a Tranz X mag trainer (JD-111) for AU$170 (supposed to retail for over $400).

Is there much difference between brands models etc?

Haha... more bike chat on here in two days than two weeks on TAT. What's with that?

And so how DO you start the TVR?

Yep, sure is.

I'm going for a record see if i can place an order every week (damn those emails they send)

2 weeks ago it was a work stand, then a cassette, crankset and chain, not this week is looking like a trainer!

What was the workstand like? I was thinking of getting one but the budget is tapped out.

I've seen the TACX trainers over here. They look okay for the price. Dunno about the HR monitor but it has more functions than my crappy old Polar

I figure it would be boring, but i thought i could watch tv or read a book.

I'm trying to put in a bit more of a training effort but its hard finding the time and stuff.
I ride after work a couple of times a week but riding at night in traffic in the wet is not to safest feeling. I figure if I spend enough time out there in those conditions it'll eventually end in tears.

I could always try and find some safer routes.

Any of you ride after 5 in melbourne during the week?
What are some good routes for the time of day?

Have you ever read how TVR got its name. Letters out of the founders first name. TreVoR.

'I'm taking my new Trevor for a drive.' Or 'I'm, taking my new twevow fow a dwive.' TVRs have always had quality issues. All those different owners, all those years and they still can't put this things together properly.

Work stand is awesome. Really nice design. Folds down and doesn't weigh much. So good to take to enduro's etc.

All the foldy slidey bits are quick release. Can't go wrong for the money (I paid AU$115).

Depends where in Melb you are. I sometimes go out Canterbury Rd to Ringwood then loop back via Maroondah Hwy to Box Hill at night. Normally after 8pm tho.

There's the "Alpine Tour of the Suburbs" on Thursdays too

Kew or Yarra Boulevard. I spent many hours in the dark after 5pm around the kew boulevard, it is relatively car free.

Beach Road between Black Rock and Mordi ain't bad either, the traffic to get there sucks but once past Black Rock the traffic is fine and the trip back towards the CBD is fine also.

Albert Park is not too bad either, trafficy but not to bad plenty of room for cyclists, just watch pit straight with those barriers thingy's.

Velodromes-Brunswick, Hawthorn, Caulfield, Footscray, Coburg (need a key) boring but so very safe...
