jeeez, fair ride!! "Conversely on the other flip side of the coin", I dunno how guys can rug up days like today (15 degrees)! Everyone I saw today had full winter stuff on.

yeah, they sometimes race in the snow, but some stages are cut short if the weather is horrible

168km is still a huge ride by my standards. I pretty much ride every day, weather permitting (which usually means ~6 days a week in the colder months), but my biggest ride ever is only 125km.

anyway im sort of liking this new home...seems nice enough...although perhaps we as a collective group have outgrown bikeforums.net and the like...would be nice to think we could all chip in and develop our own forum reality - god knows there is enough quality open source code out there!!!
Well, if you do develop your own forum, definately let me know! That way I can get my fix of Oz humor!

By the way, just a general question for you Oz cyclists...

Would I have to be nuts to want to do an unsupported ride from Darwin to Adelaide through the middle?

Yes, it was, and I'm still looking into it! It'll be an onroad tour, if I can work out the logistics tail to my satisfaction as far as caching supply drops, etc. It's looking good for it thus far, and I think I'll have the $$ together by 2008 latest. As to trying it offroad? Not bloody likely! I know it's been done, but there are some other factors that would work against me as far as my medical history is concerned.

This video might just help with the reason
...Some changes over the last 18 months, as you'll see!

Have you seen the thread as Koffee put it back? All her comments are gone. I suppose that is the power of being a mod.

Good work Tom - there are a few tour diaries on crazyguyonabike.com that do the Adelaide to Darwin route. Crazy buggers if you ask me. I'd rather be on the coast with something to look at most of the time.

OK, so the thread's back. Let it die (as in don't post there).

And FFS cut Koffee a break. She had her momentary lapse of reason, got a toepoke from someone, and will be in a (self made) world of anguish right now. Don't stride on in and make it worse guys.

jock, a typo? tsk, tsk.

they put the thread back on BF and there's already a few wankers over there talking about us. I'll only ever post there to piss them off but the Oz Thread can stay put AFAIC.

How long before they test Landis' B sample?
