What about the NYT journalist who was imprisoned out of the Valerie Wilson case? Contempt of Court - you refer to it as. I wasn't aware that journalists could be imprisoned in Cuba for insulting Fidel or Raoul Castro. But if you say so - then we'll agree that this is the case.

I don't know why he married an American. I should have done a background check on my wifes family - before throwing my lot in with such reckless people!

Well, we'll have to agree that this is the case because it is a fact, not because I say so. AGAIN, according to Human Rights Watch: Under Cuban law, the crime of disrespect for authority (desacato) covers anyone who "threatens, libels or slanders, defames, affronts or in any other way insults or offends, with the spoken word or in writing, the dignity or decorum of an authority, public functionary, or his agents or auxiliaries." Such actions are punishable by three months to one year in prison. If the person shows disrespect to the president the sanction is deprivation of liberty for one to three years. |

Why does the US Coast Guard fire on vessels from Cuba and return the people on them to Cuba? Why is the number of people leaving Cuba for the US restricted to 20 000...by US Immigration law? Alas...I fear these questions will never be answered by you.

The Coast Guard will only fire on vessels that refuse to stop. We return the people to Cuba because we don't want em here. What other questions are you afraid we won't answer? |

Steve, you are soooo predictable. How about responding to the post I sent you? Remember saying this? If you can manage to come up with some facts...I'm happy to respond. As for dissidents...come up with a few facts instead of parroting this sort of nonsense. The record of the US is not exactly great when it comes to dissidents,is it? I don't know why I bother to respond to this sort of ill-informed rubbish... I proceeded to post nearly an entire page of facts about human rights abuses in your favorite communist dictatorship. You said you would happy to respond. Are these facts nonsense? Or rubbish? Who is ill-informed? The Human Rights Watch, or you? Please respond. Stop bringing up the US Coast Guard when it is not salient to this conversation. There will plenty of time to discuss immigration policy when you finish what you started regarding your admiration of Fidel Castro. |

Why don't you want them? Is it the colour of their skin? Is it because they are leaving Cuba for economic reasons? Surely the US wouldn't turn away people fleeing a brutal and murderous regime...would they?

So what you are saying is...the US government,by returning these people to Cuba where they may be killed by a brutal and murderous regime...is an accessory to their murders.
Would that be correct?
