http://www.kompm.com Site seems to have died unfortunately. Was neat to see a list of documented climbs and a list of PB times up it which you could use to compare to your own efforts ... --brett |

Ahh crap! Yeah, agree it'd be a useful site to measure your own efforts. |

Why don't you start a new thread for this and the posts can be put on a website

A few months ago I did a loop ride through the Royal national park.
Starting at Sutherland, I rode down to Audley, up Sir Betram Steven's drive & Lady Wakehurst to Stanwell Tops, returning via the Princes Highway. I agree with sideshow_bob. The ride up Lady wakehurst, up to Otford, is not that bad. That is, when compared to other hillclimbs in the national park, such as Betram Steven's drive. I happen to be a hybrid rider & not the fastest one at that. The fact that I'm capable of riding those hills, means that the climbs are quite doable & are within the capabilities of most people. The distance seems to be more of a threat to me than the hills. it'll take at least 20Km of riding for me to reach St Peter's so I'll be riding at least 110Km on the day. I'll think about installing phpBB (or similar) on a dedicated URL if can gather the prerequisite motivation. The KOM site was a bit more complex and better than that though, described the climbs had descriptions, ride profiles including verified gradients (which was actually the part I liked), comments, pictures of the start/finish and some other bits and pieces. Clearly someone had put a good deal of work into it. Personally I'd rather be out riding! ;-p --brett |

Yesterday I rode to Berowra Waters and then rode the M2 to Ryde.
If the Sydney to the Gong Bike Ride has no head wind, I will find the hills on the ride no trouble. Cycle instead of using th internet. |

Sadness and misery. Preparations have taken a nose dive for the last 10 days - I have been unable to ride my bike. Lacerated both legs needing 8 stitches in one and 4 in the other, wish I could say it was from a fall but a more mundane accident following cleanup after the big wind Sunday before last. The 78 k's on the M7 two weeks ago seems a distant memory now. ![]()

As the Monty Python guys would say... "It's just a flesh wound!" It'll heal up in a week and a half and you'll be back up in no time.

I have checked out all the Sydney rides, but this site seems to have every hill climb anyone could ever want - worldwide. http://www.cycle2max.com/ Hope it is of use - I can't say I would be keen to post my times! Regards Peter |

That is a good site.
It might be interesting to see a similar thing done with rides that aren't necessarily just hills eg I saw an entry there for the M2, and an M7 one would be interesting. And like Bikely its great site, as is this forum but the international flavour takes away the relevance sometimes It woudl be nice if there was a truely local version, this could be done with a sort of syndication, I suppose it just dilutes the advertising money. There is a local forum ..... look up bicycles.net.au but I'm here to tell you it is VERY quiet compared to this forum (and I am comparing it to Aussie traffic on this forum). |

I think that one's worth while using. I'm setting my eye on grabbing onto the bottom of the board for the Taronga Zoo hill I think! An M7 one would be good as well, can't be bothered riding the entire thing though! I usually do a TT to Eastern Rd from the entrance at Gavin Place. |

Its nice though and relatively dog on leash and glass fragment free. There's something almost poetical about going from Castle Hill to Camden...and back again. ![]()

Hehehe, that's defiantly true. It's something I've been meaning to do, I always manage to talk myself out of it for some reason. Probably because I'd rather ride it with someone else. |
