If you're involved in an accident with ANY vehicle (motor, cyclist or otherwise), its YOUR TAC/CTP insurance policy that pays up.

That's the idea behind making it COMPULSORY - it goes with EVERY motor vehicle so that if there is an accident, injured parties CAN get medical treatment paid for.

EVERYBODY pays it, so that EVERYBODY is covered for medical expenses in the event of an accident.

And if you are a cylist at fault in a collision with a motor vehicle, the chances of you being able to nick off without a scratch on a bicycle that is undamaged probably isn't very high either.
