Bottomline is, as many foreign policy experts both in the US and outside of US have stated in public repeatedly, the Bush admin does not have a coherent foreign policy and has repeatedly had eggs on their face. NK is shrewed enough give the US run around because of this. An only people like you are still feeling proud of your president and his impotent admin.

If the Bush admin doesn't smarten up and continue on its way, next time the screw would be tighter again and there'll be more eggs on Bush and Condi's faces.

China cut off the money.....NK smartened up for now. Just like we said it would. Google it because apparently you missed something.......I know that's hard to believe but true.

Bill - NK proliferated, despite threats from the US goverment.

If the Chinese did feel threatened by NK - I am sure, as you point out, China could have brought pressure to bear to prevent NK from proliferating.

Anyhow NK have proliferated.

Here...let me help the mentally challenged world experts on here.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061021.../nkorea_nuclear

On Friday, all four major Chinese state-owned banks and British-owned HSBC Corp. said they had stopped financial transfers to the North — a step beyond what the U.N. sanctions require and a likely blow to a weak economy that relies on China as a link to the outside world.

Seems that you're the challenged one here, Bill.

The imposition of sanctions - be they UN sponsored sanctions or other sponsored sanctions, doesn't negate the fact that NK has the bomb.

And if as you said earlier, that China do consider NK to be a threat, China would have moved earlier to persuade NK not to acquire the bomb.

Proliferation is bad for everyone.
If the opposite side have nuclear capability - then the race will continue.
Unfortunately.

I don't think they have a bomb.....They have a sideshow...some smoke and a few mirrors.

Proliferation isn't a sideshow - unfortunately.

The test was very successful in the first step towards nuclear building. Not overnight, but building neverlesss. The US had more to do with the backing off of N Korea then people here are giving it credit for. It was the financial restrictions headed by the US that had N Korea concerned with. China has spoken out against the bomb testing pretty strongly so there has to be some "worry" about N Korea's instability in the worldwide nuclear theater.

But unlike the other nations speaking out against N Korea, China had to deal with the possible reprucussions of N Korea sanctions. The borders would have been over run with refugee's seeking aid.....

People may be critical of the US policy towards Afganistan and Iraq, but it handled this very NK crisis smoothly. And to me, the NK crisis is a real situation that could involve America directly down the road.

I take your point Wolf.
And in the case of NK, I'm not criticising the USA.

What I am suggesting is that NK's determination to get the bomb is in part down to the fact that their enemies have acquired this technology.

I am against all proliferation - and NK's regime is as unstable as they come.

No evidence to say that NK transacted through those banks before this news release. Probably not worth the money it's written on, but good enough to satisfy Bush and Condi's domestic US PR needs.

How naive!

What North Korea has to figure out...is they don't really have any enemies. NK is a useless, valueless, meaningless piece of dirt. Nobody wants it so if they would quit acting like idiots then nobody would think twice about them.

Let's see...the banks shut off the flow....NK changes its tune almost immediately.....and you don't think it's related. Pal I hate to tell you but naive isn't the right word for you if that is how you think...stupid would be more appropriate.

Your country and NK are still officially at war - the Korean War was never settled (officially).

Therefore they (NK) do have enemies.

......which is why your country went to war there, Bill.

You have no ideas! NK has been shut off financially for a long time and this is just piss in the wind for them. And a piss poor country like that does not need the major 4s for its banking needs nor does it need to borrow money from commercial entities like a bank.
