RD, will do.
BUT, and it's a big but, I may be sh*t out of luck for a repair/replacement. I bought my 2.4 over the web from someone who assured me that they were 'legit' even sent me a message from Saris explaining the delay in getting said 2.4. On this 'evidence' I went ahead with purchase. Caveat emptor. I have since contacted the vendor with no reply, though they have opened my email. Saris say that the vendor's on their questionable list. The email which I forwarded to Saris which is supposed to come from them may be a fraud. To be fair to Saris they have been very reasonable and said that they will consider helping me and will let me know one way or another next week. The vendor may contact me of course in the next week and all will be resolved. They did promise a full International Warranty and may yet deliver on that. I will keep the identity of said vendor under my hat for the time being, but if it all turns to custard, needless to say I will be posting full details over any bike forum I can find! Of course this is all my fault, no one else. Let's not lose sight of the fact that the 2.4 is still non functioning! Though the heartrate does work, so I now have the most expensive HR monitor in the world. Also I know for a fact that it's not the harness at fault! |

Indeed. A good point was made a few years ago on the wattage list regarding incidences of problems with the various PMs. When surveys are taken (like http://cyclingforums.com/t379126.html), PTs are invariably the most popular powermeter. So it stands to reason that, even if all PMs had the same incidence of complaints, you'd see many more for the PT. |

Update.
Saris have made an offer to repair my 2.4 as long as I pay postage each way ( I'm in New Zealand BTW). Which I think is very fair of them. The vendor has also been in touch by email... We do apologise for the problem and the inconvenience. I have forwarded your communication to CycleOps. I will also give them a call tomorrow evening.. We will handle this in such a manner as to minmise inconvenience to your good self. Ride On From Saris... honestly we don't even know who these people are. Refering to the vendors So there you have it, I am going to wait a few more days for the vendors and if unsatisfactory send to Saris, who have been very good about the whole thing. |

You are very lucky.
I don't know how much it will cost to ship the wheel both ways, but it is probably better than the alternative. Yet, Saris had a lot to lose not honoring their warranty, given the apparent interest in this new product. Plus, I'm sure they will totally investigate the reseller and hopefully fix that mess up. I guess it makes me realize, that when I decide to take the plunge, I should stick with my LBS and avoid internet or ebay for a purchase of this nature. |

Update
Saris have talked to the vendor.. they are going to take care of this for you. They did call and ask what the best way to address the issue would be. In this case they will take care of you in a timely manner. So I am hopeful of a good result. Despite my foolish online purchase don't lose sight of the fact that the 2.4 has failed for me. |

Update.
Vendors will send me a new 2.4 hub upon proof of postage and include a CTS DVD for my problems. That's very fair and good service. Of course am working for the next 7 days straight and have no time to unlace the hub, but hey, a good result. |

RapDaddyo (I like that handle), did you find out any more 'bout the SL 2.4's ... are you still going to purchase them ? It's probably too early to have had any feedback from DesFLurane. |

I have two buddies riding SL2.4s and they have not had any problems such as that described by DesFlurane. Saris doesn't seem to think they have a major problem with the 2.4s. I'm inclined to go ahead and order 2.4s for those in my club who want to spend the extra bucks for wireless. I may get one myself (tough tradeoff between the SL2.4 and the Velodyne or CompuTrainer). |

My replacement 2.4 is on the way
Unfortunately because the original vendor is sending me a new hub I may not find out the reason for failure. Should be riding on it by next weekend, w0ot. |

Question for those that have the 2.4 or know others that do: are you seeing any hub reception drops at all? Originally, I was having trouble with the HR and hub data. Replacement of the CPU has fixed the HR (perfect now versus about 15% reception before), but I am still having very short drops from the hub. Over a 2 hour ride, I might have 5-20 one-two second drops. Does this sound normal or should I find a box to ship the wheel back to Saris? |

HI
I stopped for a few minutes around 2h15min into a ride. After that no HR was recorded or show on screen. No hassles up to now. Have done longer rides than this without probs. Last edited by giannip : 28-01.-2007 at 06:27 AM. |
