That is an interesting slope geometry on that top tube. what is that called? its like severe. like a mountain bike.

I usually hear it referred to as, "compact frame geometry". I've ridden a couple and find I prefer the standard frame design but it was mostly just because having the top tube so low while standing just felt rather odd to me. I'm sure it's something I'd adjust to.

I was noticing that the saddle is at about the same height as the handlebars. I'm guessing mikem isn't gifted/cursed with my insanely long legs.

LOL! Yes, "beastt", that's exactly it. When I was being fitted by Seven, they were in doubt of the LBS measurements and asked that I be remeasured. Turns out I have very short legs for my height so GOOD CALL BEASTT!

The name of that geometry is: George Costanza

LOL! This is turning into more of a chat-room conversation but, what the heck!

I ride a 58cm frame, same as Lance... well... not the same as Lance at all but the same size, if you get my meaning. My saddles ride about 4-inches above the height of my handlebars which gives me near perfect leg extension. Finding pants to fit is a bit of a chore though.

How does she ride? Or have you not taken her out to get the tires dirty yet? (Oops... I see you've already answered that. Sorry)

yeah, that frame design is the compact frame, see my giant, a few pics above the seven, its got a compact frame as well.... also, are seven's common? ive never heard of it?

From what I've seen in bike shops there's nothing common about them, but they're not terribly difficult to find. They will let a whole lot of air out of your wallet though.

In my case, I have been riding a 1999 Specialized Allez M4 Pro and experiencing several fit related issues (not the bike's fault - more the fault of the LSB I bought it at).

Turns out I have very short legs for my height and it was when I started talking about "selling this bike and getting a new one" that the LSB sales guy suggested a Seven. That was the first I heard about them, and I live about 30 miles from Seven.

I didn't even test ride one since I trust this LBS. The one Seven they had at the time was a comfort bike (Muse) and I didn't see the point anyway - they can set you up on the bike fit-wise, but it won't ride like YOUR'S will (unless you happen to prefer the ride of the demo bike).

They have an incredibly intricate fit system that is basically:

1) Bike shop measures and interviews you (taking 3 sets of each measurement and averaging them to be sure)

2) Bike shop sends stats (and measurements of current bike) and answers to Seven

3) Seven verifies measurements
(In my case I had to go back to the LSB for re-measure at Seven's suggestion. They didn't believe my legs were that short. I'm built a bit like George Costanza).

4) Seven schedules phone interview with you (as long as it takes!) covering riding preferences, desired attributes in bike for many areas, etc. In my case, I desired a bike that was as stiff as my Allez going up hills, but comfort on bumpy roads. I'm told they can actually design the frame to do that, which is why I went with them. Plus the beauty of a custom fit for quite frankly not much more money... well, that's upside for someone like me.

5) Seven send output of frame design (specs) to LSB

6) You go back to shop and they set you up on a bike using their specs

7) If you are happy, you sign on the dotted line and LSB sends in to Seven for frame creation.

8) You wait anxiously, perhaps satisfying your anxiety (only partly) by going to Seven for a tour (where this author was fortunate to see his frame being welded by the originator of this particular welding process (from Merlin) .

WOW that whole setup sounds like it would be the best possible fit for a bike EVER! i mean, sheesh, they are REAL picky about it being fit PERFECTLY for you! if you dont mind me asking, how much does a frame like that cost? and thanks for the complements on my giant, i got it for a great deal the start of this semester of college (my freshman year)..... i bought the bike used, and then added the wheels first, followed by dura ace shifters/derailers, so now it is set up MUCH better than when i got it, with the 105 and stock rims, lol. but anyways, im going to stay on the cycling team for 4 years if i can, try to get better. eventually ill have to upgrade frames, and after that description, i wanna keep that in mind. btw, it looks so sleek being so simple. i love bikes that arent too flashy (i almost think mine is too flasy, but i think it barely pulls it off). my brother has my bike with the neon yellow looking frame, and BOY that thing stands out, kinda too flashy for me, so thats why i like yours a LOT! good job man!

No, your bike isn't too flashy at all! Of course, I tend to like a bit of flash. I came close to ordering a bike like yours when it looked like I wasn't going to be able to find a replacement frame for my bike. I really love the way that bike looks!
