There are a whole bunch of war films like Das Boot that made me think that hiding out in Canada would be a perfectly honorable way to spend time during a war. I thought Kubrick's Paths of Glory was, in many ways, an even more damning indictment of war.

Dear God,

Please let Bro Deal and his friends go to the Soap Box if they are going to talk about war and terrorism instead of movies and hot chicks.

Amen.

Maybe we should have a rule in the "forum is dying" thread that outlaws politics. War in general should be okay. Otherwise the thread might become too heated and flame out before we can surpass the number of posts in the "thread about nothing" in the Australia forum. At 17K posts, we have a long way to go.

You obviously haven't seen these. Maybe you should take some time and read a few before you make such a dangerous comment.

I should have included The Ice Storm among my list of top 10 movies.

The worst movie I have seen in a long time is that stupid Australian rubbish, Wolf Creek.

This movie has been done about fifty times before (in the 80s) and probably fifty times better.

Most quoted in my household: Caddyshack and The Water Boy
Sense an inkling of a Paul Newman fetish. Good Actor IMO. Cool Hand Luke - have had trouble eating boiled eggs ever since watching that one.

What about Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid & The Sting? They were pretty good when I last saw them about 25 years ago.

Nice avatar to match your personality. You wouldn't have been able to say that with your previous portrait.

The only wayward thing we're going to get here, on the way to 17K posts, is people posting thinking that the thread title describes what we're discussing. So that's not so bad...just adds a few more posts

How about films that you guys have walked out of (the theater) before they've ended?? I've done that a couple of times, but can't for the life of me remember their titles at this moment.

BTW you guys - if I may pass judgment - full marks for esoteric film tastes. Although I'm struggling to make the grade....we really are a better class of forum poster in this sub-forum. Who would have guessed that all the brains of cyclingforums would migrate to this thread under the GT's??? And discussing weighty topics at that.

Bro Deal - You've got to have a great little independent movie theater near your residence. How do you get to see some of these releases? You too TFF.

Hey. If anyone is reading this mostly non-sensical thread wondering whether they are welcome or not to enter at post#285 or so -although I can't speak for the other snobs in here -you're welcome to step right in AFAIC any time and give your 2c.

But please don't cow-blood us. We're in rehab.

.

QUEST FOR FIRE!! Again, sorry Bro. I was in high school at the time and found it UNbearable. Glad Bro liked Rae Dawn Chong, but watching grunting cavemen finally figure out how to have sex "human style" was too much for my 15 year old brain!

Only other walk-out: The Cell with J-Lo. Gag.
