To show some customisable stuff would be great. I want it to show current HR, power, cadence, speed and time. Things like criteriums which go 45 minutes + 3 laps knowing how long you have been riding for is important - to me anyway. HR I like to know, power - well i'm only just starting to train with power (Polar Power) at the moment), cadence and speed, just cos.

being able to have watts and ave watts for an interval would be killer...I think the ergomo does this now. I'm kindof sold on the whole Garmin 705 thing...having mapping with power data would be very cool...and also after a ride/race to wirelessly beam the ride data to others would be cool too. |

Cool, well there you go, that would be good too I guess To be able to place randomly, anywhere on the computer what you want to see and how you want to see it. Something like Inst Watts updated every second but avg every 5 seconds, etc etc.If it is that programmable out of the box, then it would be a way cool training tool.

$1400 for a Powertap SL 2.4 IS ridiculous (add on the cadence sensor). i dont see anything wrong with the price of the Quark when put between a PT and a SRM.
The display is just right to me-big? yes, but your not just looking at cadnece and speed here. if you have one then your desire for more information should mean you want a dsiplay that shows more info at once. Ray

Do you like your Polar CS600 with Power? I have heard mixed reviews on it. It seems like you need a PhD to be able to install it. But I like Polar a lot in general. |

Utter bollocks. Took me one read of the manual, about 30 minutes installation to get all the cables REALLLY neat - but then a boat load of cable ties to get it all in place. Another 5 minutes to put the calculations into the computer and AWAY you go.

Yeah but have you calibrated it against an accurate powermeter? |

The GARMIN 605 is NOT compatible. Only the 705 will be with powermeters using ANT+SPORT. Just to clarify. I asked the Garmin people about it at their booth and they said that SRM was mistaken in their press release that it would be compatible with the 605. Hunter

Let me rephrase my original comment. Compared with other power meters and for what else it offers, if it is accurate then the price is competitive. However, IMHO, I think all power meters are ridiculously priced in the first pace, and that cyclists are being ripped off. I liken it to the CD ripoff where CDs are produced for a few pennies and the music buying public pay way, way over what one could regard as a fair price.
Unfortunately, as long as there are people prepared to pay the extortionate prices asked, the producers laugh all the way to the bank. Just my few yen's worth. Tyson (Think Apple - think phone)

You pay for the copyright, not the CD. It is similar with powermeters. You are paying for R&D and intellectual property, not manufacturing. Might there be a better way to fund innovation? Perhaps. Are firms that operate in the current system extortionists? No. |

Compared to what some spend on their bikes nowdays, PMs seem quite cheap.

Other than some apparent power supply issues which would occasionally drop cadence and power data, it works fine, and am very happy with it for the price. Although you can't see average power for an interval while riding, you can get that average watts data for any interval of the ride (as captured by using 'splits' during the ride, or later manually in software).
