Also everyone needs to vote in the poll on the lower left. The paceline guys have already mobilized their forces to skew the vote.
Jesus Christ what's happened to the Hog ? He's gone limp on us...... he must have said this through gritted teeth...I mean its like Bush saying he wants to work with Al Qaeda.... Bruyneel and clean just doesn't wash.....I also note from the article that RCS don't want any team with Kloden on it..... Kloden G-O-N-E !:

“...The coming weeks, we will prove that we still have our place in all big cycling events. Fortunately, my sponsors confirmed their unconditional support. With their support, we started building a new team in a clean environment. We will continue on that way. I hope, for cycling in general, that the sponsors of the other non-selected teams react in the same way."

Nope still no discussion about those other teams that are more shocking...even after Cranky commented. Not that this forum is obsessed with certain people.

Whatever anyone feels about certain teams and people... and about them getting their comeuppance... this is a very disturbing situation for sponsors... in an environment that is already risky for them regarding doping. To not know if you are going to be invited to major races... or to not be invited as a Pro tour team, when other pro-conti teams have been, as is the situation here for four teams.. just further reduces the attractiveness of cycling as a sponsorship vehicle (irrespective of the rationales). It doesn't happen in other sports very often, that you are relying on invites to major events, decided arbitrarily behind closed doors..

BTW, is there a reason why they are so keen on not having Kloeden as opposed to other suspected dopers?

Versus channel head honchos cannot be too pleased to hear that sort of sentiment. It is also clear that some percentage of the American fans who supported Disco have simply transferred their allegiance to Astana, and have not necessarily switched to supporting Slipstream as the main "American" team.

We need to get a mole over there on paceline to report on those guys. It has to be funnier than DPF. I am not sure I want to sully myself by signing up though.
Bro, no offense buddy, but isn't it too easy? I mean, isn't that kind of like making fun of the handicapped kid at school?

Not really playing on an even playing field that way, going into a fan-based, group-think website.

I'm just sayin' . . . sometimes in life I have really good come-backs. I start to open my mouth (or type as the case may be) and then I realize, why bother? There's no competition there so it's just wasted energy. No fun for me that way.

But hey, maybe you and I differ in our perspective as to what's a fun fight.

Yep, very true Cranky. The continual uncertainty, back and forth and such does nothing but hurt the sport in many different ways, as people have pointed out here . . . turning fans off . . . . negative economic repurcussions through sponsorship struggles, etc. . . . .

Just like every other cycling forum. I've come to realize that the obsession with LA is universal in cycling really . . . just depends on which side of the obsession you fall . . . but they're both equally strong obsessions in the end.

I actually concluded that when I went over there, which is the first time I've been there. The group think makes the site uninteresting.

Not only that, but they sound quite young, or maybe better stated not adults.

Hey Bro, I pulled up the link. I was going to participate in the poll, but I'm only given the answers. The questions section is blank. What's the question?

Is it right that the Giro has excluded the Astana and High Road teams?

And the options are:

No, both should ride it
Yes, both should be out
Astana should be out, High Road in
High Road should be out, Astana in
Don't care

Ok, don't laugh at me guys. I don't have the time to follow all this stuff real closely. (Yes, I mess around on these boards, but that's not as labor intensive and is in and out . . . it's like reading a magazine article versus a novel regarding the time factor).

So, with that disclaimer, why are 36% of the people saying that Astana should be out but High Road should be in? What's the rationale there? I mean, if you're going to exclude teams, presumably you're doing so because they have a "proven" history of supported doping programs. So what's the difference between Astana and High Road? What am I missing here?

(And, don't throw things at me, no matter how much of an urge you have; it took real nerve for me to admit my weakness here and you should embrace it with open arms and respond to my question sincerely so that you encourage me to come out of my shell and discuss these serious cycling issues with you more often. )

It just reminds me of everything I hate about sports. It's the same behavior that I have never been able to understand about football and basketball and such converted over to cycling. It reminds me of high school and colllege where everyone seemed to be so stoked, supporting the school's team, and I was left cold, unable to explain how anyone could be so into supporting anything to that degree.
