Fundament. Yeah, it's gotta ring to it. I can see why the crankster likes it so much.

So, with due respect to the fact that I may have missed a whole swathe of things I wrote from which you make have taken offense, I apologize for the three G's. And I am humbled by your obvious class. Upper most likely... ![]()

My fixation with class is that as an Australian, we have none. We scoff at it because we can never have it. The fixation is mine... not yours... ![]()

We have the following posts at the paceline about Astana getting the chop from the ASO:
" What a crock of @#$%! " " This can't be happening! "" Insane - a team gets rid fo the dopers changes management, but keeps the same sponsor and they are blacklisted." " i know it's not a nice thing to say, but i hope slipstream does a crash-and-burn" " Why?" " (1) i can't stand them (2) they're "holier-than-thou" attitude (which is why (1) above)" " I feel sick to my stomach. Terrible. " " I´m with you umwolverine not basically with slipstream but I hope this will be a bad tour for the aso" "Do you think this is deeper than just the sponsor Astana, i.e., Johan haters. I can't believe ASO would be so bold to not list other doping teams........High Road. The life for Slipstream gets a little better with the Paris-Nice invite. Can you imagine what size helmets those guys will need!!" " Well I've just had three weeks of time freed up in July. Won't be watching it. Even if George and Popo are in it." " I'm speechless." "Hej folks, well the news is as expected. I was told over a month ago by the little bird that JB had warned him not to be surprised if Astana were not invited to the TdF. The situation is like this, the ASO cannot tolerate another victory in the tour managed by JB, they had had more than could stand with Lance. The straw that broke the camels back were the two wins last year by Alberto: the Paris- Nice and then the TdF. The sun shone for ASO as soon as JB took charge of Astana: at long last they had an excuse to exclude him and the team: the fact that the whole scenario had changed plays no part in this private battle: ASO had an excuse and they will do everything in their power to stick to their decision. For sure JB knew this would happen and the interview with L`equipe bears this out. Now because of the seriousness of this situation the matter must be taken to another level. Obviously this is a sad state of affairs for cycling however it has to be done and, If the other pro license teams are worth their salt they have to activate themselves and do whatever it takes to rectify the situation for they must feel the unease knowing that potentially one of them could be the next victim. What really saddens me if the fact that the ASO cannot speak the truth............the same goes for the Giro fiasco..................The whole situation stinks of mafia and conspiracy........." "The political level is where it should go. The other teams have absolutely no reason to support Astana, since they get rid of the competition without cost to themselves. They are apparently, to quote Zomegnan, virgins again. On the other hand, 1500 tons of uranium per annum, plus 75 licences for oil or gas that have recently become available... that is political."

More from paceline:
"The UCI teams need to band together here and boycott...it is Astana this year, but could easily be anohter team next year or the year after, etc. So if Disco was still rolling there would be an invite for them, but since it is Astana...." " Maybe it is time for a Tour of America.... <sigh>" "I guess we will see who holds the power now. Is it the riders, the UCI, or the ASO??? We can only hope this will come back and bite the ASO. The ASO may keep JB out of the tour, but it may be themselves and the sport they are hurting in the long run." " If I where Astana I´d demand my money for the pro tour lizenz back..." " GO TO HELL!!!" "Agree....some one has to reign in ASO and no one within the cycling community has the ability to do so, but I bet the French government could make things uncomfortable for them. Kazakh government should shut things down with France or just slow it to a trickle. 1/12 of the oil going to France comes from Kazakhistan likewise 1/12 of the uranium they use for their power plants." " This is just ridiculous... Hopefully this will become a political battle, how can you treat a team this way if you just happen to dislike the Manager? At least there is hope for Vuelta... http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news...cle_180550.html" "Don´t espect much from cycling fans about this in the german forum they are having a party.Saying that Johan is one of the main reasons cycling has a bad image.." "Is it possible if ASO continues to blacklist Astana that sponsers like Trek will pull sponsership? Because if the guys can't race at the "big" races, folks like Trek lose marketing opportunities. I hope they are devoted to JB et al." "Yes, as expected ... but it still stinks BIG TIME. It will be interesting to see who the ASO includes that also have had doping issues last year. Well, hum - frees up my July, I will not follow any race put on by the ASO ... or any other *cough Giro* that are being simply silly. I also will boycott any product that is a sponsor AND I'm going to let Nestle know, I will buy not one product of the many they make, as well as Skoda. Stupid, stupid -- I feel so bad for the boys, that just sucks. " " Is Nike still a sponsor of the Tour? And here is the reaction: http://www.sporza.be/cm/sporza.be/w...reacties_astana" "I think they are, I will pay one visit to the TdF site because I am getting all the sponsor names and they will be getting a letter or email from me ... I am only one, but they will hear from me." " This is a bunch of BS. ASO are hypocrits if Astana is the only one not allowed to race. ![]() ![]() "" I agree that 'fan' sympathy for Astana won't be there. I also agree that the other teams will be silent in fear....not a good environment for cycling (like many have said). The teams and sponsors should really think long and hard about the message ASO is sending out to all involved in procycling. What will be the impact to a team (punishment) when one of the riders tests positive this year? What efforts will team management take to hide 'unusual' test results discovered through inhouse testing - again hiding those results out of fear of being banned? And most importantly, what about the labs and WADA with their conspiracy to clean up the sport - this really emphasizes the need for third-party oversight of the labs AND WADA. The cyclists REALLY need to form a union. Wouldn't that be part of the solution to the politics of the ASO?" "Of course it should go political..........if you have the power use it.........effectively the ASO are insulting the people of Kazakhstan. As to other pro teams not wishing to help: was that your statement clipless? if so then you obviously do not understand the relationships that exist between the majority of riders regardless of whom they ride for." " Wonder if it were different if Nike would still sponsor the team..." "I have no doubt that this is correct. Sure I feel bad for AC, but he is young and will have other opportunities. Levi, on the other hand, he's having the best years of his career and not getting any younger, and for him to be screwed like this really stinks." " That is a great idea Char! Maybe Versus should get a few letters too."

I found this classic on RBR:
"Doesn't this just make the Tour of Cali even closer to being THE premier cycling event on the planet??? I can't understand why the ASO would want to exclude a clean TdF winner.... None of the team that was busted is even part of the team any longer??? right??? The only point that they're making is that the ASO really doesn't have confidence in any team, or the people representing that team to race clean.... And... that the ASO doesn't have enough aptitude to clearly argue (with credibility) as to WHY Astana is being excluded. Otherwise they would have just made that abundantly clear when Astana pulled out of the TdF last season.. Right???"
