Lightbulb 2008 Ftp?

anyone think it would be a good idea to drop the old FTP thread and start a new one for 2008. As FTP isn't static anyway, the old numbers are likely well o/o whack by now.

How does one establish a "sticky" thread BTW? Is there a direct contact to the site admin?

I suspect once we get enough responders here, the admins may get the hint the replace the old one. FWIW, I think those who care have been updating their numbers on the old FTP thread. For some reason mine got dropped along the way, so let me be the first:

Considering their response to the spam issue, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Piotr................ 260W..... 54kg...... 4.8W/kg
bigbadwoulfe......298W..... 72.5kg... 4.1W/kg

My goal in time for my first ever race two months from now is 70kg at 325W? Is that possible? I've been having a dose of SST/L4 since December 2007

Never understood the point of this type of thread...Results in races (for those that race) are what truly matters...

I guess the old "my thing is bigger/better/longer lasting/etc... than yours" is still a topic of discussion...then to rank the given numbers (using the honor system of course because no one would fudge their numbers) knowing full and well they're not that comparable due to the multitude of testing protocols used is rather pointless...but alas, I guess this exercise is still a topic for discussion...

Call me Scrooge or whatever, but I'm a racer and these lab numbers don't mean too much. FYI, I'm 86kg (race weight) with ftp in the 330-340 range. Last year was my first full season of racing (road and track) and I was happy with the several wins I achieved...
Flame away if you need, but I wanted to get this off my chest...

Improvement is what matters. A metric for the success of your training and hard work is what matters - in this forum anyway.

Hint: cyclingforums/tech corner/power training

BTW -290 at 68kg Hoping to get to 325 @ 65 by the end of the season

I haven't raced before and this is a good enough measure (at least for me) to possibly predict the results If I do race. Of course assuming I have the skills to race which I don't so no racing for me yet until then.

true enough -racing is what really matters to a lot of folks but many of us don't have that many races available or they start much later in the year and one could argue that, aside from TT's, tactics can play a big part in race success.

Anyhow, my own thoughts in 're-booting' the old thread were hopefully to see some folks improvement over the winter/spring and quite honestly to take some personal motivation from that. I think many of the regulars on here would agree that progress can be it's own reward. Success is contagious

all the best
